Do I not speak the truth or are u not ready for it?? I don't know everything but I keep my eyes open and my mouth shut until the time is right. This blog again should be used to communicate between fellow officers from all the Sheriff's Units. Most use it to speak because they have no balls and others use it as intended. So whoever is trying to out me remember, USE YOUR NAME and I'll be happy to give you mine in person. No threat, just Officer to Officer. Now I know how Ann Landers felt. I guess Anonymous is best.

Did u hear the moron from skokie Civ.Proc.screaming for backup on the radio, cause he caught 3 taggers.he was screaming like someone had been shot.thank God he had that L.E.training it sure came in handy.

So do the black officers have a legit beef on the new standards of hairstyle in the G.O.? (Im talking about the Sheriff's Police new G.O.) I saw this paper floating around the south area. Someone wrote a poorly written essay about how "the man" was taking away from people's herritage by giving them these para-military rules and standards. Then they called the chief an Uncle Tom. WOW...nice intelligent way to get a point across.

Alright, excluding the racial monotones, the hair standard is there for a reason. We are a paramilitary organization.
Officers in units where hair style and facial hair are needed to acquire a "fit-in" appearance have memos submitted. Everyone else in uniform or a suit need to be presentable to the public eye. So what's the beef?
Next, the Irish will be saying why can't we drink on the job, it's our heritage. (joking obviously)

I will say when I first starting reading this I thought BEATSNAKE was a real beatoff. But the more and more i read some of his shit makes sense. However, as far as identifying himself, I have only seen one Officer come right out and sign his name. So Stroke off why don't you be the first to sign yours if you are so interested in who he is. This is a sight to vent. Some of us are just more angry than others. Keep typin' BEATSNAKE it is truly entertaining. And besides sometimes even you are right.....

Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, a former independent alderman and state senator, is attempting a political comeback, gathering signatures to run for Cook County Board against Commissioner Joseph Mario Moreno.

Good. Lets all remember that he voted with Todd to raise and keep our state sales tax the highest in the nation. If you all keep voting for these guys they will keep raising taxes.

Anonymous said...

The Chicago Tribune's Clout Street blog reports: SPRINGFIELD --- The Illinois Senate today sent the governor a bill that would make it easier to override the veto power of Cook County Board President Todd Stroger.

That's been a key issue as county commissioners have tried and failed to repeal Stroger's penny-on-the-dollar sales tax increase.
The state legislation would reduce the margin required to override a veto from four-fifths to three-fifths. The county board has 17 commissioners, so the number of commissioners needed to override a veto would fall from 14 to 11.

The state Senate voted 48-1, with eight senators voting present. The measure now goes to Gov. Pat Quinn

Another nail in the coffin.

I'd like to take a brief moment to ask everyone to cease with the name calling and b.s. gossip and say a prayer for Officer Elton Jones (DOC) who has passed. Elton was a very dedicated Instructor at the Training Institute, Firearms Division, for many, many years. He goes back to the days of the old crew with Carlton Curry and Willie McCarty. Some of the best instructors we ever had. He loved his job and he was very dedicated. He will truly be missed. God bless you Elton "Bubba" Jones. R.I.P.

No one is saying Wuffel is a friend, we are simply pointing out that women on this job are treated much more harshly. There are double standards. Men do something and it is seen as o.k. or "they are just guys being guys, but when the women do the same thing they find themselves royally messed over. It is total discrimination and everyone knows it and only the cool guys will admitt it. You all have sisters, and mothers and would not want them treated unequal. Let's just admit the truth. If wuffel or yol collin gets in they they better really be careful because the character assasination will start--heck it already has with Tammy!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once the guys feel threatened they start the rumors and other b.s. It is really sad.

_______________

the offender is a well known violent gang member with nearly 40 arrests for crimes ranging from criminal damage to armed robbery...he has a resisting the police in there too. he was painting "king killer" on a wall and tried to run when he saw the officers. until you have been in an alley by yourself with an offender that is clearly a shithead, keep your trap shut.

the officer involved got some adrenaline pumping, used the radio as necessary, tokk care of business - shitbird in custody and the officer(s) involved are SAFE!

stay safe ALL!

Wasssap bloggers!

Hey, can we get a list of all the coppers and deps/co's that have even one minute working in OPR/IAD?
I would like to see how many have sold their souls to the devil in hopes of receiving a promo, new car, special assignment, or whatever.
Also, I just want to know who to totally avoid on this job.
Only reason I bring this up is recently I saw something and it truly amazed me at the direction this department is going.
The rat squad could do better than this weeks catch.

Well, part of this story is true. There was a sting and it was called by that name. BUT seriously, the number of arrests?
I don't know...Hey BEATSNAKE, did we do it right, could you have changed anything about it?
Hey BEATSNAKE, if you were assigned to TD's haircut/makeup team, how would you part his mop.
Oh, and I heard that although BEATSNAKE did not invent the internet (Al Gore did), BEATSNAKE did make it better!

its not about backing someone up, its just when you someone yelling like that you think the worst and you start rushing and could injure someone. he was screaming get some cars here now..get some cars here now. of coarse you go help, but what would you think if you heard that?

everything something happens, someone cames up with something
justify the incident..offenders background, known gangbanger etc..shut your trap unless you been there blah blah blah

everyone on the streets have been there & deal with shit-heads with backgrounds everyday what does being alone in an alley matter? bad people are all around us such as homes & streets. The original post was about the Officer screaming bloody murder, not about backing someone up.I agree officer safety is the #1 issue.

That the problem with the individuals that were L.E trained. L.E doesn't stand for trained by a Certified Field Training Officer. If they would of gotten the required training to become a STREET COP maybe this Officer would have handled the situation differently. But maybe not, there are Officers on the CCSPD that are afraid of their own shadows. At least the Officer had the common sense to call for back up. The only difference would be that hopefully with proper training he would have learned to control his enthusiasm over the radio. I did not hear the call so this is all conjecture.

The CCSPD Sgt. short list is 117 long and there are no CCSPD Sgt. promotions based on senority, work ethic and production it's typical county bull shit just like the testing procedures. It's always been who you know and who you blow, Shackman can kiss my ass!.

Having that been said I'll bet BT in research and development is at the very top along with AR in vehicles.
Qualifications for BT desk jockey, hallway hugger & lets not forget HS buds with ExO JK who will be putting his name in the ring, and as for AR don't forget her swing/cage time at the seedy crow bar.

Good for Byron. He also was a correctional officer at one time. Without a GED. How did that happen?

I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone who rides a desk can even be considered for promotion. but then again they promote desk jockeys and let them stay in their spot so they don't even learn anything after they get promoted. here's a crazy concept how about being THE FUCKING POLICE and locking some people up before u get promoted. I guess catching and locking up bad guys isn't that important, silly me i thought this was a POLICE dept.

CCSPD has not been a Police Department for over 2 decades. The scum from the 19th Ward took care of that and they wont be stopping soon.

Now that we are full of Hack Attorneys you need to take the Bar Exam to get any promotion. I recommend Joe Baileys on Western or Skips for the Bar Exam...........What a Joke !

Cook County Sheriff Website:

Sheriff's Investigation nets gang leaders, gun/drug traffickers.

First off let me say that the Sheriff (Mr. Dart) did not participate in the investigation "Police Officers" did the work and their unit/departments were mentioned in the article at the bottom which is no great surprise (GREAT JOB BY THE PO'S!)and who is the tool writing this shit? and where did he/she go to journalism school?.

Second no where in the article is there a mention of one gang faction so what gang was involved Mr. Sheriff ?,inquiring minds want to know, and I would bet it was a CI of a Gang Unit Officer that needed a few $$$ that made the tip, which should off been referred to the North Side Narcotics Unit.

Third, this six month long investigation with all of the overtime and expenses to run such a long operation probably ran up a tax payer bill of half million dollars plus with salaries, cars, CI payments etc., not to mention ISP lab costs, ASA costs to prosecute, Judges, PD's etc. I am sure you all get the picture and all of this taxpayer money was spent for a mere $35k in cash, 18 guns, 9 ounces of coke, 4.9 lbs of weed, what a great business decision by the CCSPD management staff, no wonder they are talking about laying off PO's instead of Lawyers and every unit in the entire department is short on bodies. Shit a Gun buy back program in the townships and a few reverse stings could net more drugs and bodies, and let's not forget those all important administrative tow fees at a fraction of the cost.
Fourth, if this was such a big criminal enterprise operation that took six month's to bring down where were the ATF agents ?, the ICE agents ?, why isn't this case going Federal?, where was the big media press conference ?.
These little narcotic operations are rampant everywhere and are merely one step above the street corner slingers.
Listen, I am not knocking the Police work that was done and the need desperate need to arrest these street level dealing scumbags doing their illegal business on our streets and in our neighborhoods, what I am knocking is the decision making from the bosses in this department who continue to always miss the big picture in this local level so called drug war and continue to waste taxpayer money and if you haven't figured it out yet Mr. Smith and Company keep thinking until the big light in your head goes on!, and remember this you went to litigation school, we went to POLICE school.

Happy Holloween to my fellow Police Officers and all your kids, stay safe.

Facts are that guys opinions of Martinez are good and he had a couple excellent informants which resulted in some nice cases. They say he was excellent at interrogations and interviews, too. Quinn was so-so but Rico was more of a scammer and did the minimum.
According to an excellent and time after time proven MEG Agent from DesPlaines, says things got worse at Cook County MEG when a certain, demoted sergeant that couldn't even buy an aspirin in an undercover capacity got the then DC's ear saying the County could do it better than the MEG unit. Yeah right....didn't take long for the MEG Unit to take a nose dive, and then be dismantled. DuMeg and Lake Co MEG are still thriving.

Thriving??? The adjective "surviving" may be a better descriptor. Once upon a time, when I was the Deputy Director of MEG, there was a great little burger stand right down the street from the office. Anyway, I digress, the Investigators mentioned here, Mr. Martinez, Mr. McQuinn and oh well, Mr. Errico ... at times were very good team members who partook in somewhat traditional and non-traditional fundamentals necessary to conduct successful narcotics investigations that result in somewhat positive outcomes. However, politics between law enforcement administrators is just one of the many trials and tribulations of multi-jurisdictional Law Enforcement organizations.

Headed to Doc P's, talk to you later.

If this is a Cook County Post, why no comments on the Sun Times article about Super Max Division 11, 10 and 9 no longer being max because of door lock problems, and Division 1, going back to max after being minimum, except high profile, with the same door problems

OK, Jake from Des Plaines PD must have given his true, pointed accurate opinion of the MEG downfall led by Sergeant APD who never bought aspirin or anything else but had the Malzoos ear for a while.

A few true facts in case Sgt APD forgets due to his old age...

Martines bought many kilos of cocaine on dozens of occasions or more. He did have somewhat of an advantage by speaking the language of drugs (spanish). He also did reverse roles and portrayed himself as a kilo dealer selling cocaine to unwitting customers. He brought large amounts of seized money into our department. Martinez was also used undercover from time to time by the Chicago DEA office due to his skills.

McQuinn bought some kilos of cocaine, some heroin, LSD, PCP etc... and wrote the 1st Wiretap in Cook County & the State of Illinois. This Wire was succesful and he travelled to Turkey to return the defendant to stand trial. McQuinn also did reversals selling kilograms of cocaine. His efforts brought hundred of thousands of dollars into the department and MEG. Martinez had former arrestees who wanted him killed and McQuinn was used undercover to act as the hitman.

Errico was good undercover and made many good cases up to kilos and did not get along well with Sgt. APD. He was a bit of a rogue and had his own way about him but he did pretty well undercover. Errico had some crazy hair styles and colors which assisted in his undercover roles somewhat and I am sure they really disturbed Sgt. APD.

Major bought ounces to kilos of cocaine and heroin on many occasions and had some very good success while working undercover. He never passed up a chance to do undercover work and he did well.

Guera worked undercover and had some success buying some decent amounts of cocaine but was somewhat afraid to work alone undercover. He could have done better.

Sgt APD never bought aspirin or much of anything else for that matter............

I apologize for anyone I forgot from the CCSpd.

The above is all true, right APD..... The truth hurts !!!

MEG Trivia. WHO was the other AD? Greatest Tech guy of all time. Too bad the didn't have the tech capacity then that they have now.

Also, You failed to mention the other MEG guy from the Sheriff's police that bought kilos even though he was white (DE) and often did not have a flash roll.

Those were some of the best days of my life. Good times, Good memories!

At the time, SGT AD took the rap for the downfall of MEG and in retrospect, I wish I would have treated him different.

Also, If you are going to reminisce about the Sheriff's Police involvement in MEG, How could you leave out Group Supervisor/ Area supervisor and finally LT. GW

I agree, Andy is a good guy, he takes care of his team and he would not let any cops get hurt. Andy would give you his last dollar if you needed it. He is entertaining too, he is very eccentric and a bit out there. There is a lot to be learned from the man, he is very intelligent and might have done better as a college professor than a cop. But he loves this job and he is fun to be around - his mannerisms, vocabulary, old stories, knowledge of local eateries and 30+ years of police experience will keep you laughing.

I have no opinion either way about Andy, but after I read this I had to laugh. The above is so true. He would come in to the Det office...his nose would sniff the air...he would act like he was walking in the Sergeants office and look toward the conference room. If there was food on the table, he would briefly visit the Sgts, then make a bee-line for whatever morsel he could grab. If there wasnt any food he would act like he got a phone call and leave. Very amusing to watch.

When Andy was the commander of gangs things ran great. We had a leader that didn't micromanage and took care of us. He got us specialty pay and what did the other units do, they all bitched that we shouldn't get it- instead of fighting to get it for themselves. Leave Andy alone and worry about yourself.

A suicidal Oak Forest man was rescued by a Cook County sheriff's police canine unit Wednesday night.

The 45-year-old man, who had been despondent, had indicated to friends he was going camping and then to kill himself, the sheriff's office said Thursday.

Sheriff's Officer Jim Pacetti and his canine partner, a bloodhound named Melanie, were called in to assist the search. After getting the man's scent from a pillowcase, Melanie went to the area where he was last seen.

In less than 30 minutes, the dog led Pacetti about a quarter-mile into a wooded area near Oak Forest, where the man was found alive and camping, the sheriff's office said.

he man, who seemed to be unharmed, was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Pacetti and Melanie have located five people since she came to the sheriff's police in December 2007.

Here's a dream scenario ehhh... suppose JUST suppose that our department is what, somewhere near 2nd or 3rd largest Sheriff's Dept. in the USA, we act like an actual department and take care of business. Our department short of our metropolitan area commands a degree of respect when metioned. We need to start coming together and commanding that respect here. Unfortunately due to politics our department has been to some extents, been reduced to a horrible puppet show. So many complain of what's wrong instead of maybe doing the simple things that might fix a problem! So long has it been that the county way that people take MORE time and energy to NOT do something than to actually do it. WTF?!?! And you do also realize that the "CRACK" staff we have running things on the upper echelons were elected by guess who, the masses who are doing the complaining! But of course the amount of shit that needs to be fixed can be of an undaunting task and can be such an overwhelming task to tackle! I think if we can just band together and start knocking out that long laundry list of SHIT one at a time, maybe just maybe, we can effect and implement some change. Whoooaaa pipe dream or could it really be?

Gov. Pat Quinn today signed into law a measure making it easier for Cook County commissioners to override County Board President Todd Stroger, who has repeatedly used his extraordinary veto power to protect an unpopular sales tax increase.

Legislators approved the bill during their fall veto session as a way to provide cover to some suburban Cook lawmakers who may be vulnerable in next year's election due to the unpopularity of a penny-on-the-dollar-sales-tax increase Stroger championed in 2008.

This should get interesting.

If you do not like it go to another department. However to sit here and try to demean people for taking the training that was offered is ludicrous Now it is not fair the way they have picked people…and it is getting worse but that is another subject in and of itself.

No, but the list should be made available to all of us. The fact that it isn't smells fishy. This is the only department where everything is kept secret. We should all know the names of those who passed and their score should be ranked. If people don't want others to know that they failed they should go cry it out and find a job where they get handled with kid gloves.

Many motorists nabbed for speeding by a laser gun, instead of radar, are seeing their tickets thrown out at Chicago's traffic court because of a legal issue that the city's law department has been unable to overcome.

Within the last year judges in Cook County Traffic Court in Chicago determined that speeds captured by lidar were not admissible because the devices had not been proven scientifically reliable in an Illinois court, said Jenny Hoyle, spokeswoman for the law department, which prosecutes most speeding tickets in the city.

The judges brushed aside the office's position that such a legal hearing was unnecessary because lidar devices, which use a light beam instead of radio waves, have been used by police departments across the country with no problems for a long time and because some courts outside Illinois already had found them to be scientifically sound.

The devices, widely used by police departments across the state, are the primary speed detectors used by the Chicago Police Department, Hoyle said.

As a result many motorists ticketed for speeding in the city have been able to skate out of traffic court without having to pay the fine.

"Judges don't share our view that the technology is valid in court," Hoyle said.

Timothy Evans, chief judge of Cook County Circuit Court, which includes traffic court, would not comment because pending cases were involved.

The judges' findings do not benefit motorists who plead guilty and pay their fine by mail, Hoyle said. The city has continued to cash those checks.

Judges in traffic courts outside Chicago have not taken a uniform position, said Steve Fagan, a defense attorney who represents traffic violators in Cook, DuPage and Lake counties.

Some judges dismiss tickets that involve lidar, while others view it as legally sound, Fagan said.

The legal procedure required to prove a technology is scientifically reliable -- a Frye hearing, as it is known in Illinois -- is laborious and expensive, experts said. The hearing requires witnesses and can stretch for days.

That's the reason the city law department was reluctant to initiate one against a defendant, Hoyle said.

Since last month the department has begun seeking such a hearing in the small percent of speeding cases in which the defendant has a defense attorney, she said. But each time the defendant has chosen to pay the fine rather than participate.

The department hopes the Cook County state's attorney's office will secure a Frye hearing because that office handles the most serious speeding cases in which the defendant has more invested.

If they fail, Hoyle said, the prosecutors will seek a state law that explicitly recognizes lidar as scientifically reliable.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Police Department plans to continue using the device, said Roderick Drew, a spokesman for the department.

"We believe it to be reliable and accurate," Drew said.
