DOLTON, Ill. - A Dolton family claims Cook County Sheriff's police officers are not telling the truth about the events leading up to a deadly hit-and-run accident in which Kenyatta Brack Jr, 16, was killed.
"Never in my wildest did I think that I would be the one standing here today grieving my son's death," said Selean Turner, Brack's
Cook County sheriff's police say a gray Hyundai Sonata sped past an unmarked police car on the Bishop Ford Expressway around 8 p.m Sunday night.
Brack was riding his bike to go meet his mom when the sonata hit him at 154th and Greenwood in Dolton, and kept going. The driver struck another car, a few blocks away, then ditched the Sonata and fled on foot.
Brack was pronounced dead at 10:16 p.m. at St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond, Indiana.
Sheriff's police spokesperson Steve Patterson says officers were in pursuit of the car but stayed 2 blocks behind, and never went faster than 35 miles per hour.
Brack's family says that's a lie.
"We know the truth," said Brack's cousin Christina Brown. "There's nothing the sheriff or anybody else can cover up:"
One of Brack's friends witnessed the crash. He told the family the Sonata was traveling at more than 70 miles per hour and the police car was right on its tail in a high speed chase when the teenager was struck and killed.
"I blame the guy that's in the car and I blame the police for chasing him because they could have called off the chase," said Brack's uncle Kevin Brown.
Relatives gathered for a prayer vigil at the crash scene Monday afternoon. They say Brack was deeply committed to his Muslim faith. He loved basketball and he was looking forward to going back to school at Thornridge High School this week. They are asking the driver to surrender to police.
"What possessed you to do that? What made you do that? Come forward and face those you harmed," said Kenyatta Brack Sr.
Police do not have anyone in custody at this time.

You think they would be thanking that deputy for working a busy felony courtroom, shorthanded-putting his life in danger on a daily basis. DOLTON, Ill. - A Dolton family claims Cook County Sheriff's police officers are not telling the truth about the events leading up to a deadly hit-and-run accident in which Kenyatta Brack Jr, 16, was killed.
"Never in my wildest did I think that I would be the one standing here today grieving my son's death," said Selean Turner, Brack's
Cook County sheriff's police say a gray Hyundai Sonata sped past an unmarked police car on the Bishop Ford Expressway around 8 p.m Sunday night.
Brack was riding his bike to go meet his mom when the sonata hit him at 154th and Greenwood in Dolton, and kept going. The driver struck another car, a few blocks away, then ditched the Sonata and fled on foot.
Brack was pronounced dead at 10:16 p.m. at St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond, Indiana.
Sheriff's police spokesperson Steve Patterson says officers were in pursuit of the car but stayed 2 blocks behind, and never went faster than 35 miles per hour.
Brack's family says that's a lie.
"We know the truth," said Brack's cousin Christina Brown. "There's nothing the sheriff or anybody else can cover up:"
One of Brack's friends witnessed the crash. He told the family the Sonata was traveling at more than 70 miles per hour and the police car was right on its tail in a high speed chase when the teenager was struck and killed.
"I blame the guy that's in the car and I blame the police for chasing him because they could have called off the chase," said Brack's uncle Kevin Brown.
Relatives gathered for a prayer vigil at the crash scene Monday afternoon. They say Brack was deeply committed to his Muslim faith. He loved basketball and he was looking forward to going back to school at Thornridge High School this week. They are asking the driver to surrender to police.
"What possessed you to do that? What made you do that? Come forward and face those you harmed," said Kenyatta Brack Sr.

Same crazy shit. The latest was trying to write up a deputy for having a bottle of water in the courtroom. That place is insane. How is it that 26th cal averages 2 write ups a month. Markham averages 5 write ups a day with less than half the deputies. The one good thing is we have a great union steward that makes the Chief and Lt look dumb on a daily basis. If it wasn't for him we be totally fucked. We can't count on KC and KJ to do anything. The only thing we can hope for, is that they replace our invalid chief with someone good when she retires. And we all know it has to be an african american chief. Can you at least pick a decent one like Avant or Allen. Please dont put another hater in their. Is that to much to ask Piperhands.

The Cook County Sheriff's Police Department, Sheriff's Office, Sheriff's Department, Sheriff's Dept of Corrections, Sheriff's Court Services and on and on or whatever you want to call it is inherent of the problems that exist-mostly because of politics.
When have you seen any member of the Police Department willing to go back to the courts, jail or to any other assignment unless they screwed up first and this was offered as a last ditch alternative to save someones job.
So, generally speaking, is the CCSPD and elitist group? Yes. Self-indulgent? Yes. Childish? No. It's our chosen career to which most of us take very serious and to which we are very proud. Whats the real problem with that?

this is what i have a problem with.if it is stated that you are not to have a bottle of water in the courtroom then getting caught is on you or whoever did it. same goes for the custodian that got caught stealing it doesnt matter that it was toilet paper it is still wrong and against the law.where do you draw the line on what you can and what you cant steal.if there was an investigation maybe it led them to think he was stealing other things instead of toilet paper and that just happen to be the only thing he got caught with.now getting back to the water bottle complaint deputys are their own worst enemy they bend/break rules get called on it then cry about it just do what is right and the rest of that pimpy bullshit cant harm you.all im saying is if you dont give them a reason there aint shit they can do to you so if you get caught take your write up and move on

You have to remember that kj and kc could care less unless it affects them. You think they would be thanking that deputy for working a busy felony courtroom, shorthanded-putting his life in danger on a daily basis. But this aministrations philosophy is how can we make that deputies life more miserable. The management in this department have mastered the art of killing morale. This is the result of putting unqualified politic hacks like kc and kj in positions of power. They have no common sense or leadership skills whatsoever. When you have a negative rating of over 95% of your workforce, you can not manage effectively. It's time for them to go.
