Pause for a moment.

You guys are better than this. Put the pointless bullshit to the side and discuss things without insulting each other. We know that requests like this usually yield dramatic drops in posting but quality beats quantity. The core concepts this site was built upon need shine through this shit talking mess.

This site was created as an open line of communication between all areas of the department. By posting here you unofficially chronicle all things good and bad that heretofore would be swept under the rug. Mistakes would be forgotten and repeated. There is definitely room for humor and cause to lampoon those deserving of it. The department has had its moments of triumph and spent heaps of time in the cellar. But to dwell on such pettiness distracts us from the big picture all around us. The anonymous nature of the commentator here is to shield one from political and workplace retaliation. Try not to engage in baseless and anonymous insults via the internet.

Thank you all for taking your time to share your experience, opinion and humor.

Good luck with this suggestion. Remember County Guy this is Crook County what do yo really expect. Let the nonsense roll. Also, how convenient to post a new topic after the posts were just beginning to start on recent problem officers at CCSPD.

This is nothing new for sheriff Dart. He never will engage with the officer. Never a hello, how you guys are doing. He always goes up to the prisoners and ask them how they are being treated. I have seen it first hand twice now in the jail. I said hello to Sheriff Dart once and he gave me a look like how dare you even speak to me. But then he gets infuriated when you dont acknoledge him or pretend you dont reconize like he is some kinda of celebrity. dammed if you do dammed if you dont.

Dart is a celebrity, just ask him!

Point well spoken County Guy. I will try to improve some of my own rants too.

First off I would like to tell all Police officers, Correctional officers & Deputies that we are/were all on the same side. The same goes for CPD, ISP & all of the locals.

I don't want to go to anymore funerals or hear anymore sad stories about how good of a guy someone was. I wish each and everyone of you a great career & long, healthy retirement.

Every department has had their share of morons & criminals, including CCSPD, CCSD, DOC, ISP, CPD, the locals & even the FEDS.

The common denominator of most of these problems is the influence of politics which usually results in unqualified individuals getting jobs where they do not belong. Hopefully some day this can be corrected, however, I will not hold my breath.

We should all be thankful for the jobs we have & the pension we hope to have when we reach the finish line.

County Guy, thanks for the time to speak my piece & my best to all of you! Be Safe!

Let me be one of the first to say that I hope for new life on this blog. I look forward to fresh ideas and legitimate criticism of this administration. When we continue to attack each other, here or publicly, the administration has succeeded.

This administration is full of union busters. This sheriff cant stand unions and he particularly hates the unions that represent us. It would make this man's career to break the police, courts and corrections unions. He is using the oldest tactic known....divide and conquer. He thrives on this.

This post is evidence of his narcissistic, egotistical attitude:

-"This is nothing new for sheriff Dart. He never will engage with the officer. Never a hello, how you guys are doing. He always goes up to the prisoners and ask them how they are being treated. I have seen it first hand twice now in the jail. I said hello to Sheriff Dart once and he gave me a look like how dare you even speak to me. But then he gets infuriated when you dont acknoledge him or dont reconize him"-

We ALL need to stop pointing fingers at each other and start pointing out the faults of this administration. That means ALL - Cops, Courts, Corrections...dont fall into pointing fingers at other Departments either. The politicians are after ALL of us! They want public service job cuts and our PENSIONS. This is currently going in three (3) surrounding states.

Please dont fall into the trap!

I'm just saying....I've been with the State Police for 25+ years with 20 in the Cook County area. I've worked besides some great CCSPD guys and dealt with Court Officers and Correction Officers that were real nice and professional officers. It surprises me how much you guys and gals are eating their own on this blog. Ive stayed after court many times just to BS with the court officers and have really enjoyed our conversations and laughter. Remember we are all in this together. It won't be the judge or lawyer stopping to help each other out on the street. Screw the politics. It's just as bad at the state level withe the crooked and selfish politicians. Be careful out there and in the jails.

Dart Is Going To New York To Receive Award For Refusing To Evict The Deadbeats!

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, who made national headlines when he temporarily refused to carry out foreclosure evictions, is now getting a national award for his efforts.
Dart will receive a Community Leader Award from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York on Tuesday.
In 2008, Dart halted foreclosures until banks put in place measures ensuring that renters who did not know their landlords had defaulted on mortgages were not evicted without notice.
Two years later, Dart again temporarily halted foreclosure evictions, contending that some bank employees weren't following proper procedures.
In a news release, the school praised Dart's humane approach to law enforcement, pointing out that his office sends social workers with eviction teams to help evicted residents receive assistance from social service agencies.

Apologies, I didn't know their names. As far as the political thing, well all I can say is this. Every sworn member that has "sheriff" on their uniform had to get some help getting to where their at. It doesn't matter how you got your foot in the door, it matters what you do when you enter the room! From what I see is that their are more good guys than bad in this department. Sadly, the bad ones are always the ones people see. I agree that promotions here have nothing to do with quality work but who your phone call is. Hopefully someday that will change. I doubt it but you never know! Stay safe and God, protect us all!!

Update. Dart Is Receiving Award Side By Side With Known Police hater In New York!

Tom Dart Will Both Be Receiving An Award At The Very Liberal John Jay College of Criminal Justice In New York Today For Refusing To Enforce Evictions. Also To Be Honored With Dart, Is Marian Wright Edelman, Of The Childrens Defense Fund Of Equality.

From The Colleges website:
In particular, we are honoring the CDF and Ms. Edelman for their work highlighting what they have branded as the "Cradle to Prison Pipeline," namely the ways that our schools, juvenile and criminal justice system have become overly punitive and are tracking a high percentage of minority youth into the nation's high rates of incarceration. The Fund has focused on school discipline policies, overly punitive juvenile detention systems and police-youth relations. Ms. Edelman has become a passionate national advocate for juvenile justice reform.

Quotes From Ms. Edelman
"When Jesus Christ asked little children to come to him, he didn't say only rich children, or White children, or children with two-parent families, or children who didn't have a mental or physical handicap. He said, "Let all children come unto me."

"The over-policing of public schools--not just in New York, but around the country--is one more threat to our nation's children at risk of entering the pipeline to prison".

"But since the NYPD-takeover of school security, many students and teachers have said that their schools feel more like prisons than places of learning".

"In some ways, the sense that too many schools are turning into prisons is very real. Students are learning that many school disciplinary incidents, including the kind that used to end with a trip to the principal's office, can now lead to an arrest"

"At-risk schools in New York and across the country deserve to be flooded with resources and support instead of police. And students at those schools need to be applauded and encouraged for being at school and wanting to learn, not made to feel as if they are criminals just for trying to go to class. It is time to treat children as children and not as criminals--especially at very early ages".

"Our nation incarcerates more people -- over 2.3 million in 2006 -- than any other country. Because justice is not equally administered in the United States, Black males are disproportionately represented among America's imprisoned population, currently numbering 837,000 in state and federal prisons. Our ranking as the world's number one jailer represents a monumental national failure'.

I could give you more Anti-Police Quotes From Her But I Think You Get The Point. It's Not The Criminals Fault For Committing Crimes, Its The Overzealous Police Officers Who Are Arresting These Poor Kids Who Are Doing Nothing Wrong! And Where Is Our Sheriff Right Now? It sounds good.....the "can't we all just get along" montra. And believe me I think it's time we do that as a total unit, CCSPD, DOC, CSD, etc. We need to protect one another, provide a united front, work for the common good of the entire Department.

However, judging from the morons I work with daily, we have a long way to go! What my fellow Deputies are doing at my facility is down right embarrassing. We open CR numbers on one another, that's right WE THE DEPUTIES, not the Supervisors, hand OPR our complaints on other DEPUTIES, we back stab whenever possible, grievances are written for the goofiest things (and they are actually submitted by the Union), we continue do act irresponsibly, we are our own worst enemy! I have worked at different facilities, and have never had it as good as I now do, but some of my fellow Deputies need a reality check, they need to work for Supervisors that will make your life miserable daily. Hey, I'm not kissing up to the brass, but I've seen the way other facilities are run. And this show plays out daily, sometimes 2 or 3 performances. If you think I'm exagerating, stop by the next time you're shopping at Old Orchard.

Tom Dart is Going To make Jail Guards Go Through Gender Sensitivity Training To Deal With Transexual Inmates! Dart Also Says The Emotional Concerns For Transexual Inmates Even Superseded Security Issues His New Policy May Cause!

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart announced that Cook County Jail has instituted a policy for housing transgender detainees based on their gender identity, rather than birth sex.

The policy became effective on March 21. It is thought to be the first of its kind in the United States.

"Particularly with this issue, we wanted to do it right," Dart told Windy City Times, adding that "medical and sociological" concerns for transgender people "even superseded security issues."

The seven-page policy mandates that transgender detainees be allowed to consult with a "Gender Identity Panel" of physicians and therapists before being placed into male or female housing. It also directs correctional staff to allow transgender people to wear clothing/ own hygiene products consistent with their gender identity. Further, it requires that corrections staff, physicians, and therapists undergo gender-related sensitivity training administered by the sheriff's department.

Dr. Avery Hart, the chief medical officer at Cermak Health Services, which oversees healthcare for Cook County Jail, estimated that at least two to three transgender people are in custody at the jail at a given time. Hart worked closely with the sheriff's department to draft the new policy. He did not comment on any specific reports but did say that he thought that "what's been reported in the country about trans people detained reflects Cook County Jail."
Dart said he discovered the jail had no transgender policy over a year ago when the issue was raised at a jail staff meeting. He said that questions arose about where to place transgender people in housing, and Dart recommended that staff defer to the policy.

"I just saw blank stares across the room," Dart said. "I said, 'Are you trying to tell me there is no policy?'"

According to Dart, his office, Cermak Health Services and the Department of Corrections collaborated with experts ranging from therapists to LGBTQ activists to other jails in order to draft a comprehensive policy.

Other jails have adopted policies for placing transgender detainees, most notably in San Francisco. The Cook County Jail policy is unique, however, in that it not only aims to place transgender people based on how they identify, it defers to a "gender identity panel" of doctors and therapists to make that decision, not just correctional officers. It also requires transgender sensitivity training for jail employees, and is backed by a system of supervisor check-offs to ensure it is followed.

Dart told Windy City Times, adding that "medical and sociological" concerns for transgender people "even superseded security issues."

Hey Guys,
It Ed L. , You know aka High Paid Lights/Siren man from 23rd street. I understand everyone is upset with me. Seeing how I never worked the jail, Never worked the streets, but yet I was able to weasel my way on to the HBT team. Hence the words I used "weasel".

See it all started a long time ago when I met this guy named Terrance Lanigan. And I told him I was afraid to work in the jail, but I use to plug up the christmas tree lights every year for my dad. Terrance said, "dude really". I told him yes and if he puts me somewhere besides the jail. I will be his snitch boy and weasel and work many hours and not complain.

I was able to get into Sheriffs police later and get you guys really cool light bars.

Now Terrance is gone and not forgotten. So I knew my time was soon to be over and I would be thrown back to the vultures. Oooops I am sorry for calling you guys that, I am really nervous since I am using my County issued tough book computer.

So one day the Sheriff came in because his turn signal was making a clicking noise and moving really really fast. I told the boss man, "Boss its the turn signal bulb is out." He said, wow you saved me from that annoying sound. I said boss anything for you. Even if I tell on people for you. You are the best Sheriff to ever live. You should be President some day.

I had a red cape in the back of my unmarked car with the Letter D on it. I said Sheriff here you go. I made it just for you. The boss man smiled.

I said Sheriff I will be your snitch for life. And rat people out for you and have no shame. Even those terrible Sheriffs Police.

He patted me on my head and asked. What do they say about me in HBT. I thought to myself, wow the boss wants me to snitch so I better make it a good one. But the dont talk bad about him so I created a story. I said they said things can be better with more training, but its not. So i created imaginary stories about Commander BE and next thing I know is he was moved. The Sheriff asked me if there was anything else to tell. I thought to myself, I better not give up everything yet. Such as DC wants to be in charge of HBT and will be rat number two. So I held my peace. I asked the boss if he wanted some wig wags on his truck. He smiled and said you are the best Ed.

You will get to stay and work here making 80k for a longtime.

So you guys I feel so much better. Thank you for listening.

Ed
Chief of Sirens/Light Bars

Ok, here's a request for useful information. Exactly how understaffed are the police department and court services?

What are some current staffing figures? How many beats are there in unincorporated cook that are short? How short are they? Someone touched on the lopsidedness of beat coverage that Ford Heights patrol has created. Can you list some specifics? If an officer arrests someone is their beat covered? What are realistic response times throughout the county?

How short are each of the courthouses? How many courtrooms are left unmanned or understaffed?
How short are civil process and evictions?

Take a look at your district, unit or facility and come up with a breakdown from where we are to where we should be. Please be factual.

There are plenty of people that would love to know exactly how the citizens really are shortchanged.

Ok, here's a request for useful information. Exactly how understaffed are the police department and court services?

Answer: Neither are understaffed. The problem is the allocation of manpower. Too many chiefs and too few Indians. Too many CCSPD with cushy assignments outside of patrol. Too many political connections allowing personnel to move up and on without doing much of anything. If you think the CCSPD is understaffed why do I constantly see in the south townships three or four squads parked for hours at a time at certain gas stations? We really don't need more personnel just better supervisors, more motivated personnel and less politics. As far as Ford Heights just compare crime stats to find your answer on manpower allocation. You might not like the allocation but then again I don't like paying taxes for a whole lot of stuff Crook County spends my tax money on.

AFSCME is fighting the County on their blatant and illegal disregard for the arbitrator's award. An unfair labor practice is before the Illinois Labor Board and AFSCME has requested an expedited hearing before the arbitrator that ruled on the matter. AFSCME lawyers will appear before the arbitrator and inform him of Cook County's failure to honor the arbitrator's award. The AFSCME lawyers are demanding that the retro be paid WITH interest ASAP. The County cannot win this fight, the arbitrator's ruling in October is binding. It may take a bit longer, but we will win!

The veteran motorcycle officers alleged in a lawsuit that they were punished with bogus performance reviews, threats of reassignment and other forms of harassment after objecting to demands from commanding officers that they write a certain number of tickets each day.

Great idea to post this one. Trying do bring everyone down with you? or are you just trying to make everyone look like shit by bringing them down to your level?

A Gift from the Sheriff

"Hello, is this the Sheriff's Office?" "Yes. What can I do for you?" "I'm calling to report 'bout my neighbor Virgil Smith. He's hidin' marijuana inside his firewood! Don't quite know how he gets it inside them logs, but he's hidin' it there." "Thank you very much for the call, sir." The next day, the Sheriff's Deputies descend on Virgil's house. They search the shed where the firewood is kept Using axes, they bust open every piece of wood, but find no marijuana. They sneer at Virgil and leave. Shortly, the phone rings at Virgil's house. "Hey, Virgil! This here's Floyd. Did the Sheriff come?" "Yeah!" "Did they chop your firewood?" "Yep!" "Happy Birthday, buddy!"

A little humor for everyone....

Kudos, to everyone receiving an award last week especially LR,RV and GC for their split minute thinking against a sword weilding maniac. Also great job to HBT's SG,NC, RV, and DC on taking into custody a known illegal arms dealer and bomb maker after a night long standoff in McCook. Good to see that HBT still has a few guys willing to face danger and risk their lives going after a guy who could've blown the whole building up. Keep up the good work, maybe you guys can rub off on the rest.

Yes, thats whats being said.
Facts are Gorniaks Suit WAS DISMISSED-ask him, I did.
At best, he started a battle that was won by others-not him-in a currently huge, never-ending war.

Thats also about the time when things started to really get chicken shit on the job. Think about whats happened to our Dept over the last 5-10 years! Think about whats been gained as opposed to whats been lost. Look at our vehicle situation. Look at our beat organiztion now. Open your eyes and think about all this.

We'll save promotions for another rant.

It was the County that brought the pay raises to a common standard-many got the bump.

We should be grateful-to the County.

P.S. You're also right-Gorniak is a thorn in the side. I've "broke bread" with him only because he's a Dept member but you won't see us together on our days off.

We need someone with talent and aggressive negotiation skills to get our needs accomplished-not simply some pain in the ass that does nothing but piss people off.

Forget about the quick fix-Give some thought to our future. retirement and Health Benefits, things like that.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

You hit the nail on the head again-"so-called experts, lawyers...."

Thats all part of "them"!

Why are other Departments successful in pay increases and benefits that stand without loss of what they had before?
No one said it's going to be easy. there has to be found, a way to get
"them" and "us" together to work out differences.
There has to be some type of mutual trust instead of "What about me?" all the time.
It's a great job for Chrissake and theres enough talent WITHIN the Department to realize and fix the mess that started mostly since Sheahan and now more than ever, with Dart in office.
Pissing bosses off, lawsuits and constantly whining and crying is not what will fix our problem.

Remember-think of our future, retirement, benefits and health care. Focus on keeping what we have now as opposed to loosing it. Keep all those eggs in the basket.
Even the cracked ones-nothings perfect. Speaking of that...
Happy Easter to all.

DM is a puppet because he wants to be such. He could have been his own man but he endeavored to be a "yes man".

DM's character is so destroyed he believes his actions are beyond reproach.
Look at the facts.

Manpower redistribution division wide but Peer Support, "the DM fiefdom" suffers no loss.

Who in their right mind would speak to anyone connected with that backstabbing asshole.

I guess that is the point, if you might be suicidal, you probably are not in your right mind.

The blogs are buzzing with rumors of the removal of the Piper.
While I hope the truth about that sanctimonious asshole reaches the light of day,
I do not believe we will ever get that lucky.

If and when the end draws near for the Piper, Watch Your Ass.
The Piper is a known vindictive bastard, he will lash out at anyone he believes to be his adversary.

Sheriff Dart, if you have indeed seen the light and are aware of what is happening to your people, we implore you to take swift corrective action without warning.
Otherwise you are sentencing the Deputies to slow torture.

The absolute truth is your message is not being delivered properly.

Your command has become hubris and oppressive.

Your Deputies are all in a cell, come by and visit us.

Ask if we need any thing.

The answer you get will not be toilet paper.

We need the toilet flushed.

We beg you to wash out the arrogant and abusive command.

We have suffered long enough.

Although we have not been charged with a crime, we are all imprisoned.

Reach out to your employees like you reach out to the accused.

Offer us some comfort, many great people work for you, many people have great ideas, many people actually care about their work, and desire to do a good job.

Are you ever told about these people at your accountability meetings?

Are you ever given a list of exemplary acts carried out by your Deputies on a daily basis?

It is more likely the Piper and KJ tell you how horrible we are, how lazy we are, and how many of us have been disciplined this week.

Sheriff Dart, your people are drowning in shit.

We are asking you for help.

Lets see how long is takes for a relief order.

The inmates got theirs in less than 2 hours.

Why is Kj and kc taking the heat for this. Dart is the one who bragged to andy shaw about only hiring 8% of sheriff workers from the 19th ward. Then he pointed the finger at sheehan for hiring and violating shackman. Kj and kc have nothing to do with this. Like anyone is going to ever take their personal problems to peer support. When the people that run it dont even back their officers. The morale in this shithole has never been worse. And they wonder why people call off at a much higher rate than ever. They will tell sheriff dart that we are lazy. But if they really looked at the stats the call offs are much higher than ever. We have the same employees that didnt call off before the dart administration. The deputies are more stressed out than ever before. We work shortstaffed putting our lives on the line every day so they can call us lazy crybabies. Go f yourselves. Most of the cowards running this dept like kj and kc and heffnan have never had to even search a prisoner. They would crap their pants if they had to work a courtroom with 30 felony prisoners by themselves.

Anyone who thinks KC or KJ are being demoted, let go, or anything else need to take an extra hit of oxygen, the lack of it is affecting your brain. Think guys, for starters name some names as potential replacements if your theory is correct. No one is close to being groomed for those spots. Who is high enough on the list? Don't tell me Mr. Magoo from Rolling Meadows!! You are all wrong and looking to start rumors no one in their right minds would consider. Only two chiefs I can think of have the time on the job and the years of survival to go up. I'm sure most of us in Courts know who they are, there is ONE good candidate in there that has been really a stand up guy for a long time. Comments or guesses welcome.

Why do you think dart wants out so bad. He knows the ship is sinking at a rapid pace. The question is who will he save before the ship is submerged. The next sheriff is going to clean house for sure. Dart does not have the poltical capital to name the next sheriff and move on to something better. His options are to leave and cut his losses, or remain the sheriff until this department goes up in flames.

Everything is fine now cause nothing serious has happened. But do you really believe that the first time someone gets hurt or killed that the fluff man is not going to throw the chief deputies office under the bus. So while the yes men keep fluff happy by keep telling him everything is ok and look at how short staffed we can work. Why not have one deputy work two felony courtrooms. Run backand forth between prisoners. We can do it tommy. This place is a ticking time bomb and everyone knows it. By the grace of god nothing has happened yet. We had 2200 deputies and are down to 1300. But dont worry tommy everthing will be alright. When something happens you can blame preckwinkle. We have your back.

Anonymous said...

The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Some of these deputies are just slugs looking for any excuse to call in sick. However, some really are just depressed and tired of working for this insane administration. Its not easy having to work in shit conditions and not having chiefs who will back you. It use to be the officer was right first, now under Dart the prisoner get the benefit of the doubt before the officer. It really is a volatile situation. And many of these officers really need to get profesional help. It woulkd be nice if Dart came around and talked to people about their concerns. I know were not prostitues or inmates, but we are people as well. I know Sheriff Dart has a busy schedule like getting awards in New York but mabey he can fit us in.

"You better be carefull cause Dart will get rid of her if he thinks she is still loyal to Sheehan. Dart and towne had made it their mission to target the sheehen people. I dont know how Jackson And connolly are getting blamed. They are taking orders from Towne and Dart"

You do not know why KJ and KC are getting the blame?

Are you fucking me?

Have you been working for the Court Services Division?

Have you seen what the fuck has happened to the Deputies in the Last Five Years?

Ok, Ill explain it for so the short bus kids can understand.

Dart is elected Sheriff,
KJ and KC are appointed Very High Command Positions.

Instead of using their collective influence to protect the Deputies.

Instead of helping the Deputies adjust to the new way of business.

The Deputies are flat SOLD OUT.

Did KJ or KC address a roll call and explain what the new boss expects of us.
NO

Did KJ and KC explain to the new boss what the Deputies capabilities are, and what methods are in common practice.
NO

Just two examples.

Sheriff Dart and Mr Towne,
We know you read the BLOG
and I am sure you understand the principals of management.

Therefore I pose this question.

When you are faced with systemic failures Division wide, to what do you contribute the cause?

A Command Staff
B Subordinate Staff
C Weather
D A rare disease affecting only Deputy Sheriffs.

Thats Right the Correct answer is A: COMMAND STAFF

Most of the problems within the court services division are due to one thing.

FAILURE OF COMMAND.

Heres an example.
When you visited CCB and you made certain observations, do you believe that was the first day those things occurred?

Where were all the Supervisory Staff?

Ill tell you where.
They were hiding from YOU Sheriff Dart.

Because the jagoff command in the Court Services Division has everyone convinced that you are unapproachable.

Can you guess why?

Because they DO NOT WANT YOU TO BE TOLD THE TRUTH.

I am sure they report to you how the Deputies are out of control, sick time abusers, who do not listen?
Guess what Sheriff Dart.....
Those are the typical signs of a COMMAND FAILURE.

Sheriff Dart,
Operational Tempo, Morale and Cohesive Command are some of the keys to successful management.

Court Services has none of these.

In Baseball when a team is performing poorly, do we fire the first baseman, suspend the catcher and use our best pitcher two games in a row without rest?

Yes that is what we do.

Winning Teams Get a NEW FUCKING MANAGER.

Sheriff Dart,
If you want a Winning Team, a Team you can be Proud of.
KJ and KC have got to go.

They have had more than four years to teach us your way.

They have had more than four years to deliver your message

They have had more than four to move the department in your direction.

In four years they have done little more than pad their own resume's and promote their close friends.

In four years they have destroyed morale, and have not successfully implemented your methods.

THEY HAVE FAILED YOU.

STOP ALLOWING THEM TO BLAME US.

taken from a SecondCityCop post:

The poster was making a comment about leadership in Chicago Police Department and closed with this comment:

You never send your men any place that you won't go yourself

If you're capable, then you go!

If it requires more then one man, then you go first!

If you don't have the courage to lead, then you shouldn't be the leader.....

This Department's leadership could take a lot from this phrase.

. And of those 25 top-paid employees, 13 are “policy” workers and thus Shakman-exempt; 11 have donated to Mr. Dart's political fund during the past decade.

I guess the shackman lawyers ignored this fact. Why wouldn't they. Dart just made them millions.

At least judge meechan can split some of that 2.4 million after T.D and brian lost so many friends over this shackman b.s scam. The sad thing about this entire operation is the only one that will end up a winner in the long run will be Dart. When he moves on to something better, you really think he is going to care about brian or steve or anyone else. He has destroyed so many good peoples reputations that he will leave them to the wolves when he rides off into the sunset. Tom Dart is for Tom Dart and no one else.

Is J. Konrad next in line for the top jail position?
He'd be good for the Corrections if that happens.

Just sayin....

WHAT A SCAM THE CLAIMANTS GET 760,000 AND DARTS LAWYER BUDDIES GET OVER 4 MILLION

I thought the lawyers were suppose to get 33%, not 85%. This should be investigated. It's no wonder they praised Dart. I would too.

Brian sure didnt mind when he violated shackman. How did brian get his job, let me think. This was before he was put into a shackman exempt position, of course. This whole thing was a scam for the lawyers.

now county wide in house bids for start times? i don't get how my chief seems to be ahead of the curve lately. we had to fill out a sheet last week asking for our preferred start. it was supposed to be for information purposes only, now this BANG county wide bids for the same thing. we get rid of traffic school and go to a single 2nd watch and D3 follows. rumor has it D5 will do the same. what's our unions take on the bids? will they even be involved? when did they find out? did they all agree? who will decide the start times? can they be changed before the bid?

"...After tom dart lets in shackman lawyers they bill the county for 5.3 million...."

I told you a long time ago, I want to know who Shackmans clout is!?!

It looks like sheriff fluff didnt have the political capital to get his buddy Tom O'Donnell elected alderman.

The right-hand man to former Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis will lead Cook County's troubled homeland security and emergency management agency, Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced Thursday.

How many ZERO days do I have to take?

The greatest thing about the shackman deal is the fluff man screwed over his own people. The only ones that benefited were old ogrady and elrod hacks that lost their clout a long time ago. And fluffy really didn't get the accolades that im sure him and patterson thought they were going to get . The story was buried on a new york times blog. Not one other paper covered his so-called shackman compliance. Shackman basically put the department on lockdown for 4 years . And what was the result, a few lawyers walking away with 5 million dollars. Im sure fluff thought he he was going to be on ever paper in the country. Sorry fluff it looks like the media is getting tired of your circus act as well. Good luck raising money next time around.

You mean time magazine man of the year couldn't get his pal elected. I guess they didn't let the felons and puppies vote.

I am wondering, why deputies are ok with batteries on them not being felonies? There are more simple battery charges taking place than in the past. It used to be when felony charges were not approved, the states attorney's office was criticized and accused of hating us. Now it is the norm. Why the change in attitude? Is it an acceptance of certain realities? Not needing CIU to get involved with a simple battery would be one.
