“I could do Link Card cases every minute of the day, and use every person that works for me, and I’m still not going to be able to get out in front of this thing,” he says.

So Fluffer why not come up with a better way for the big leagues to manage this issue properly.

"Link Card Fraud"

“If the bigger federal government is not going to get their act together, I’m not going to continue to waste my resources chasing these cases down,” said Dart. “I have so many other cases to be working on, whether its gang-related cases, narcotics cases, homicides. You name it, we’re really busy.”

Fluffer, your unprofessional and you sound like a little kid in a playground.

"We're really busy", doing what exactly?. And what crime fighting are you doing exactly?.

Terror Link Downplayed in Courthouse Break-In
'Pictures of courthouses, water systems' from around the US found in the van used by five men believed to be Moroccan Muslims.

Jim Forsyth

Five men in their twenties, described as French-Moroccan Muslims, are being questioned by the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and by officials of the Department of Homeland Security after they were arrested inside the 120 year old Bexar County Courthouse in downtown San Antonio shortly before 2 this morning, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Officials say three of the men crawled through a window to get into the 120 year old Courthouse, which is a landmark in downtown San Antonio, and theother two were found in a van parked in front of the building.

Inside the van, officials say they found "photographs of infrastructure" including photos of shopping malls, water systems, courthouses and other public buildings which they say were taken in cities nationwide.

"They got travel documents, parking passes, they have been all over the country," one law enforcement officials who asked not to be identified told 1200 WOAI's Michael Board on the scene. "A lot of photographic equipment, a lot of documentation equipment inside their vehicle."

Officials say the five men entered the country legally on visas from Heathrow Airport in London. They didn't immediately know how long the men have been in the U.S., or what places they may have visited.

Officials immediately blocked off a two square block area of downtown San Antonio around the Courthouse, and bomb sniffing dogs fanned out throughout the building. About two hours later, the streets were reopened, indicating nothing dangerous was found in the building.

"They are going to be held for interrogation by the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the joint terrorism task force," the law enforcement source said.

The men are described as in their early twenties. One law enforcement official said the men told him they climbed to the fourth floor of the courthouse at 2AM "to get a better view of the city."

There is a military intelligence convention underway at the city's Convention Center several blocks away, with top intelligence officials including White House officials set to speak, but investigators didn't say whether there was any connection.

Investigators were tight lipped about the incident this morning.

"All that, coupled with the fact why they can't explain why they are in the building at 1:22 in the morning raises questions," the law enforcement officer said.

We should have a poll on what Dart's next publicity stunt is going to be. Has any of the gacy victims been identified yet? Does anyone remember when dart first came in office and he took his name off all the Sheriff vehicles. He was quoted shortly after in the paper that he did not take the Sheriff position for name recognition or attention. Who would predicted he would turn out to be the biggest media propagandise ever. And to the investigators that think they are doing real police work with the gacy case. All you are is over- paid social workers. And dont gives us the bull that this is all going to be paid for. dart stuck his neck out and the stakes are very high for him to solve these cases. We all know this will cost department funding we cant afford like so many of his other ventures.

These are simply misunderstood innocent muslim men on vacation who merely went astray and walked into a empty 120 year old building. Please don't worry your little heads of for nothing it's a simple case of criminal tresspass by three of them looking for old historical rugs to pray on.
The big question here is did any of their civil rights get violated by law enforcement.

Two Cook County revenue investigators have been fired after they were accused of taking bribes. The bribes reportedly came from stores that weren't paying the local tobacco tax.

Cook County Inspector General Patrick Blanchard said the men admitted their role when they were confronted. Blanchard said it cost the county thousands of dollars in lost revenue.

CCSPD Special Operation's personnel were escorting these investigator's on their rounds so what happened here?.

Cook County Sheriff's deputies are conducting high school programs to remind teens the dangers of driving impaired or while texting.

The current program is timed to coincide with homecoming at area schools. Tuesday at Marist High School students drove golf carts while texting and also while wearing special goggles to show how difficult it is.

They also wore the goggles while trying to walk a straight line to simulate alcohol impairment.

This special sheriff's unit is conducting these demonstrations at high schools across Cook County.

The Massachusetts healthcare law that then-Gov. Mitt Romney signed in 2006 includes a program known as the Health Safety Net, which allows undocumented immigrants to get needed medical care along with others who lack insurance.

Uninsured, poor immigrants can walk into a health clinic or hospital in the state and get publicly subsidized care at virtually no cost to them, regardless of their immigration status.

Among the layoffs are 282 from Preckwinkle's administration, including 180 custodial positions due to "managed competition." Preckwinkle said Thursday that another large number of layoffs will come from the county's health system.

Dart gave up the custodial department to save his 13 million dollar womens justice program, including hiring former prostitues. He new when he let them go this these guys would be laid off. And now his buddy Dimeco can lobby to have his mob buddies get the 6 million dollar private contract which he has been working behind the scenes on. Darts lobbiest brother will probably get a piece of the action. And the narcissist dart will look you dead in the eye and tell you how bad he feels that you lost your job. Cause a good liberal like him really does care.

This is the beginning of the end to the patrol division. This is an article from the suntimes.

Preckwinkle’s proposed budget also calls on the 100,000 residents of unincorporated Cook County — 2 percent of the county’s 5.3 million residents — to decide whether to start paying the county for police services provided by the sheriff’s office or get their areas annexed in to a neighboring municipality.

If you have more than 4 years to go....start looking for your position at the jail. The writing is on the wall.

The Maverick

Anonymous said...

Preckwinkle also wants to require people for the first time to pay to park at the county’s five suburban courthouses, as well as at the main Cook County Criminal Courts Building at 26th and California on Chicago’s West Side. She’s proposing a $4.75 parking fee. That would apply to everyone, including county employees and people summoned for jury duty.

This bitch has got to be out of her mind. I have to pay $4.75 a day to park for work? If I go out to lunch do I have to pay again? Are you fuckin' kidding me, I have to pay $95.00 dollars a month to park?

What about the Judge's, do they have to pay. What about all the employees that park under the Daley center? What about all the squad's that come and go all day long?

From Shavedlongcock comment section:

hello Detective, i would much appreciate if you would post this.

As you may have read in the tribune today that preckwinkle plans to lay off and privatize the Cook County Custodial department:

"Among the layoffs are 282 from Preckwinkle's administration, including 180 custodial positions due to "managed competition."

Here is the story behind the story. Up untill a year ago we were under the Sheriff's department budget for over 25 years. That was untill Sheriff Dart decided that we were less important than newly hired prostitues and cut us from his budget. We landed under facilities management controlled by president preckwinkle and Jim D’Ami$$ (. Once we we were cut from Sheriff's Dart's budget we all saw the handwriting on the wall. Jim D'Ami&& has been working behind the scenes with the Sheriff Da%*'s lobbiest brother to push for the the multi-million dollar private custodial contract according to a source. We believe we were sold out by the highest bidder. I earn 34k a year as a janitor supporting 3 kids. I will not go down without a fight and unless this is investigated. We were always curious why the sheriff didn't fight to keep our jobs and we think we have found the link. Can you please post this to see if anyone else comes forward with more information. And we would also like to know how a mobbed up convicted felon was hired by the county in such a high position.
Thanks.

An 87-year-old Indiana man was arraigned on drug charges in federal court in Detroit on Monday after police found 228 pounds of cocaine worth an estimated $2.9 million in his pickup following a routine traffic stop.

Fluffer & Co., now this is what is defined as real police work!.

INDIANAPOLIS — Authorities have seized more than five tons of marijuana and about $4.3 million during a seven-month investigation that resulted in what they believe is Indiana's biggest drug bust ever.

A team of federal agents and city police officers found dozens of bales of wrapped marijuana at a warehouse on the west side of Indianapolis last week after an investigation that started in March, when officers found about $2.6 million inside a hidden compartment of a semitrailer.

U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett said investigators believe the cash was on its way to a Mexican drug cartel while the seized marijuana had a bulk value of about $5 million - and a street value potentially 10 times more.

"This was significant because we got them both coming and going," Hogsett told The Indianapolis Star. "The money was going, and we interdicted the drugs that were coming."

Wow, narcotic and currency interdiction what a concept!!!.

Congrats to Dart and Detective Moran for finding a guy who ran away from home 34 years ago. The question is if this guy really wanted to be found why didn't he just pick up the phone and call home? More tax dollars well spent!!! the people that are going to be laid off will be sastisfied Dart is now chasing living ghosts of john wayne gacy

On a May day in 1977, Harold Wayne Lovell left his home on South Pulaski Road for Aurora to try to land a construction job. At 19, he was tall and thin with long sandy blond hair framing a full mouth and broad nose. He preferred to be called Wayne.

Then he vanished.

For years, Lovell's family believed he was a victim of serial killer John Wayne Gacy. A younger sister, Theresa Hasselberg, a nurse in Alabama, kept newspaper clips about Gacy. A brother, Tim Lovell, read books about Gacy and theorized that Wayne and Gacy crossed paths while Gacy did construction work at a fast-food restaurant in Aurora. Two weeks ago, they contacted the Cook County sheriff's office, which has reopened the Gacy case in an effort to identify eight long-unidentified victims, so they could submit a genetic profile for testing.

But instead of finding the sad connection to Gacy that they always thought existed, they found something that shattered their expectations, brought a large measure of relief and raised a host of questions: a police booking photo online that showed their brother was alive, although sometimes in trouble with police, in South Florida.

Humorous Comments from yahoo in Darts Latest Bizzare media story!

Thanks to Sheriff Dart, I'm sure he was relieved to learn he wasn't a victim of Gacy.

and he couldn't send a letter or postcard to one of his siblings in 34 years???? Guess he was busy......

And he never - not even once - called his brothers when he was only fighting with the mother? What a tight-knit family!

Joyful reunion? I would've kicked him in the nads.

I bet a private investigator or a search of tax records would have saved these siblings decades of worry and woudn't have cost the sheriff millions of dollars.

He says, hey mom you b%#%ch give me half of that life insurance policy

If only he had commented on Yahoo and had displayed his location, all would have been solved. This is great police work and our tax dollars spent well.

Lovell says he left home because he was clashing with his mother
- 35 years? That is some hillbillie clash!

"The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated."
Mark Twain

Yeah...there has to be a little more to this fluffy story......

And he NEVER wanted contact with his siblings ???????? ODD story here

Anonymous said...

That was a touching story - until the deadbeat returned home. His family thought he had been murdered decades ago, but they just happened to be sitting in Chicago looking at police booking photos from somewhere in Florida? I know a reporter who should've asked some more questions.

Its wonderful news. Now he's back home where he should be. The only problem is they can't get him out of the crawl space.

I think sherif Darts next publicity stunt is to prove John Wayne gacy was innocent. He is starting to make a case for it.

I hope the family isn't sorry over time they found him....

Don't beleive me-just read this blog with all the complaints and issues addressed, day in/day out.

Still funnier than hell that RR didn't get what he was promised-dumbass...do us all a favor and retire.

Maverick, Goose, Icemans waiting for you...

Be careful out there and as you already know, everyone now has cell phones, video cameras, security cameras but also DO YOUR JOB! Don't hesitate when aggressive action is required. Never back down. And watch your partners back, too as you would want them to watch yours!

It's up to you guys to do something about work conditions. Loose the attitude. Quit the complaining or lighten up a bit on it at the very least. If a guy or gal does something above and beyond-mention it on this blog. It is what it is and only you can change it. Forget the Unions. Forget the Administration. Forget the jagoffs on the job.

Simply keep your nose clean, do your job the way it should be done, then go home safe and sound at the end of your tour.

We give Preckwinkle credit for confronting the host of complex inequities that unincorporated areas present. These often overlooked territories run the gamut from starter-home communities to apartment clusters to wealthy enclaves. Residents may attach their neighborhoods to fire protection districts, but they generally rely on sheriff's deputies — who may have to drive long distances to reach them — for police calls.

Preckwinkle would put these unincorporated stretches into "special service areas" to pay for services typically provided by municipalities. Board member Larry Suffredin long has advocated that abutting suburbs instead annex these areas — although he's quick to note why suburban officials often object: Annexing unincorporated areas would mean a costly upgrading of their typically inferior streets and sewers. A simpler option, which Suffredin says residents of some unincorporated areas now employ, is contracting with the abutting suburbs for municipal services. In that model, the unincorporated area is a customer of, but not a part of, an incorporated community.

Preckwinkle is correct to make Cook County finally face the fact that it cannot economically justify supplying municipal services to far-flung unincorporated areas. Anybody who's watched a county highway truck hopscotch from one remote strip of county road to another knows how inefficient the current system is.
--
The handwriting is on the wall, or is it?

I dont know about you, but I am getting sick and tired of the media screwing over our Police Department. This hit piece in the Tribune EDITORIAL section is just that.

I am in Patrol. I am proud of my job just like any other Officer of any division of the Sheriffs Office is proud of their division. I drive my beat every night and do my job. No, I am not out there on RT53 or I90 stroking minority drivers for tickets so my commander can win this week's bet with Dean. I am beyond this.

I am truely ashamed at my department. The department (make that WE the department has done nothing to offer comfort to our residents. These people pay taxes, a lot of them. Now Preckwinke want to force them to annex so she can fire our PD, after all, if there is no unincorporated areas there ought not be a police department, right?

Well, lets take stock of what we got here:

1. We have a command staff that has done NOTHING, ZERO, ZIP, NADA for running the department. Nothing comes from the square. No new ideas, no fresh concepts. They have failed to lead us.

The Chiefs are at each others throats, trust me on this. I talked to a number of the people at the square and basically there is a total lack of command cohesiveness from the chief, the FDC, and the DC's. This permeates down to the commanders and then the field supervisors. Yeah, this shit goes on behind closed doors, but dont think for a second that we in the field do not see this.
To be continued.

Anonymous said...

Rumors are all over the place. Is Dewayne staying? Is Smith going? Who will run patrol? When does Kevin come to work? Is Cassidy sober today?

Then there is patrol. Has any of the supervisors brought us any ideas on how to counter all of this bad press? No. Go out there and write me more tickets so I can win my bet this week at the accountability meeting.

When the people in the neighborhoods stop me on the street, what do I tell them? Can I sell our department to them as a viable service that we deliver? How do I counter this bullshit on how long it takes to answer calls?

Here is a fact check for those assholes at the tribune: Our assigned and arrival times are in line with any other agency in the area. I live in Orland Park and when the beat car that covers my neighborhood goes down on a call the next beat over covers my area. It is assumed that theyll take longer to get there than the assigned car.

We solve crimes just as well if not better than the suburbs. Look at Indian Head Park (where by the way, they have a detail in OUR area). They had a homicide last week and it still isnt closed. Detectives correct me if I am wrong, but I believe all of the last several homicides in our areas were either closed with an arrest or an offender was identified, correct?

And, you are going to annex into Indian Head Park for what reason now?

And it took a dumb patrolman to figure this all out. Why isnt this coming from our bosses?

continued

We need to take a lesson from Chicago PD. They hired Pat Camden as their spokesman at shootings. Why isnt our union looking into doing this? Camden gets away with it because he is credible and it is a free country, he is allowed to talk to the press. The sheeple that feed from the main stream media's tit are suckers for the truth and any version of it that is presented to them as the truth. Why arent we putting out responses to this bullshit that spews weekly if not daily from the papers and TV news?

We really need to get away from this corrections and courts bashing. It looks bad, real bad on all of us. Corrections has problems on the horizon. The days of hiring 300-400 officers a year will grind to a halt when preckwinkle causes the jail count to go down (7500 I thought she said in the paper). Their money train is pulling away from the station now.

Same for courts. They havent hired a soul in like 5 years. If they think any C/O with any measure of seniority is going to walk away from that to be bottom man in a courthouse they are nuts.

But then there is the PD. I am getting mixed messages here. Why are they promoting 10-12 sergeants and 25 new PPO's to an agency that the county board wants to axe? I just dont understand this.

A long post, and I am sorry about this. But I hope we the department can start thinking this stuff out and plan carefully guided responses otherwise Dart and Preckwinkle will plan it for us. They might well win, but perhaps we oughta not go down without a fight, right?

O'Grady, a shareholder at Querrey & Harrow, worked as a police officer in the Cook County sheriff's office until he attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law and became a prosecutor in the Cook County state's attorney's office in 2000.

The next year, when traffic court moved from 321 N. LaSalle St. to the Daley Center, he bumped into then-Cook County Sheriff Michael Sheehan, who asked him why he left the sheriff's office. The sheriff persuaded him to return as his assistant general counsel and later promoted him to chief counsel and director of operations.

And unlike Dart, O'grady is loyal. He remembers who took care of him. House cleaning time in 2014!! Dont worry kevin-Con and company, Paul will give you a full day to clean out your office. Dart is going to ride off into the sunset in 2014 leaving his people to pay for his sins. And the idiot that posted that O;grady is anti-police what article were you reading. The article is about him defending police officers.

Anonymous said...

This was national news a few days ago. And of course Dart was jealous of the media attention in California and came out with his press release two days later. The media propaganda machine at its best. At least this time its for a good cause.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- About 2,000 paroled California sex offenders have no permanent home partly because of a state law that bans them from living near schools or parks. This Halloween, however, many will spend the night together under supervision from authorities who want to make sure they have no contact with children out trick-or-treating.

Two Days later.

Sheriff’s police to visit registered sex offenders on Halloween.

About 100 Cook County Sheriff’s Police officers will be visiting the homes of registered sex offenders in unincorporated parts of Cook County Monday, but they won’t be looking for Halloween treats. The officers will be conducting random compliance checks of registered sex offenders, at their residences, throughout the day on Halloween, according to a release from Sheriff Tom Dart’s office.

Officers will be going door-to-door conducting “knock and talks” to verify addresses, make sure sex offenders are in compliance with the rules and regulations, and to let them know there will be a strong police presence on Halloween.

“Halloween is a time of fun for children, and we want to make sure that on Sunday we are doing what we can to ensure the safety of kids out trick or treating, and to make sure the sex offenders within our jurisdiction understand that we will be watching them,” Dart said.

To show you how much Dart is respected he has 200k in his campaign fund. The last fundraiser he had he couldn't raise a penny. Most state reps and alderman have more than 200k. When he loses his darling status with the media fluffy is toast. So he better make his move in 2014. The little coward cant even go get a loaf a bread down the street from his crib without someone calling him out as a sellout. He has lost his base which is a mortal sin in politics. He cant raise any money. How is he going to run for senator or governer with 200k in his fund. he wont have another guy like Sheehan who will just hand it to him. The spolied brat will have to fight for it.

Anonymous said...

The Sheriff's Police will be around in some form or fashion. I think we'll go down from approximately 407 to around 200 officers in the near future once patrol is gone. No need for all those officers. Corrections will also be trimmed down as the jail population drops. Just a sign of the times. Officers will be let go by last one hired will be the first one to go regardless of rank.
That's just the cold hard facts......If you have a long way to go start looking for a job...you got several years before this happens....but be assured this will happen..just a matter of time.....

The tool Lt SG took a page out of the book of the best Sgt on the job T.O. Now they both look like complete idiots wearing those stupid hats. Big Boy looked kind of funny to, smiling at the camera. I didn't notice him holding up a cheeseburger though. I must have missed that. Its good though that you guys could take some time off and relax from investigating the murder of a 14 yr old girl to do a publicity stunt for the Sheriff.. How many other cases are you neglecting to get free publicity for the man?

A lot of law enforcement have a general distrust of lawyers because of their experiences," O'Grady said. "When they're testifying in cases where they're the arresting officer, they are cross-examined by other lawyers who make them look bad.
"My experience as a police officer, and having that experience on the stand, helps me put them at ease and helps them put their trust in me."

Do you really wanna go there. Paul. I think not. There are people still here who worked with you and know better. Just stay where you are and what you are doing, making 300K a year, and keep eating with that silver spoon you were born with.
And please don't even go there about police work. You may have watched a trial or two but you never left the jury room.

And unlike Dart, O'grady is loyal. He remembers who took care of him. House cleaning time in 2014!! Dont worry kevin-Con and company, Paul will give you a full day to clean out your office.

I think KC knows he's toast when dart leaves. His last stand was the promotions he just made. Even if the next Sheriff likes him which is highly unlikly, they cant afford the pressure that will come when the eviction mess hits the fan. Too many people know about it. Its just amazing Dart has protected him. Dart is not loyal to anyone so it begs the question why kevin is still around?? What does he know about dart????

He has lost his base which is a mortal sin in politics. He cant raise any money. How is he going to run for senator or governer with 200k in his fund.

You need at least 5 million to run for Senator Or Governer. If only whores and puppies could donate money he might get there. Why do you think he didn't run for mayor. The loser couldn't raise a dime. And he's not going to get people to help him. Look and the poor guy from the auto pound who got signatures for Dart and he opened a Scakman investigation on him. Thats how the coward treats his own friends.

That would suck. Sgt's, Lt's and Commanders with 5 years on the job getting laid off. NOT.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle sent out the first wave of layoff notices Monday to roughly 100 employees under her authority, a spokesman said.

The layoffs are among the estimated 1,055 that Preckwinkle has called for to help close a $315 million budget gap. The layoffs will hit a range of offices under her control, from the public defender’s office to the highway department. The action will save an estimated $40 million, according to the county budget office.

HERE IT COMES. WILL IT HIT US?

No layoffs will come to courts. Its not even on the table.

The media whore is out of control!

Chicago - Robotic aerial drones have become a familiar sight wherever American soldiers wage war. Now, drones could become part of the Cook County Sheriff's arsenal. Officials say they're far less expensive and more effective than the helicopters that have been the county's eyes-in-the-sky.

It's a case of local government's budget crisis converging with new technology. We've learned that Sheriff Tom Dart's been negotiating for more than four months now with the Department of Homeland Security, and hopes a federal grant will pay for a drone or two that will be far simpler to operate than the expensive helicopters he now shares with Chicago Police. The county's share of that tab is more than $400,000 a year.

Dart said that after talking to several of his young officers -- veteran helicopter pilots who flew in Iraq and Afghanistan -- he'd like to put small computerized drones in the back of their police SUVs.

"It's the quickest and best way to get more efficient. When you have people who are otherwise going about their daily patrol, their daily job, but yet when we need a drone, when we need to utilize it, they'll just peel off from their job for that period of time. We'll utilize it. As opposed to having dedicated people waiting for the weather to break for a helicopter to go up.

Last Friday, a sheriff in suburban Houston took delivery of a 50-pound ShadowHawk drone. Police in Arlington, Texas, have been training for a year on how to operate a smaller 11-pound drone. Both were purchased with federal funding from Homeland Security.

Dart said that, after months of study, he hasn't yet found a downside to drones.

"My God, it would be so easy and cost-effective to utilize that over and over again," he said. He said that his deputies could use the drones to search for missing children. "We can use it during search warrants and the like, where we'd have the ability to scan the building ahead of time. Frankly, in a much quieter fashion than having a helicopter above it."

A spokesperson fro Chicago Police Department Superintendent Garry McCarthy said that the CPD is not currently considering the use of drones.

Maybe Preckwinkle should start to worry, she wants to get rid of all the unincorporated areas and do away with township government. That would mean that there would be no more need for County Commissioners which would mean no more county board in turn would mean no need for a county board president....

1. We have a command staff that has done NOTHING, ZERO, ZIP, NADA for running the department. Nothing comes from the square. No new ideas, no fresh concepts. They have failed to lead us.

Absolutely CORRECT, bring MALINOWSKI back!

I just read Tom Dart wants to put military drones in squad cars. Is this guy certifiable or what.

How much do you want to bet that OPR would get more use from the drones instead of what they are intended for.
Again, just one of many misuses of Fed $$ by this guy. Maybe the "G" should conduct an audit on Mr. Dart & his books, and where items purchased with Fed grant $$ really ends up & is used by who.
