G8 SUMMIT MEETINGS

I really like the posted videos as they clearly show how the reactionary forces were put on a very short leash by all of the political assholes in charge.

This is what every police officer going to work during the summit meetings will be up against should they be called upon to defend the city of Chicago.

All of the politicians and kiss ass bosses could careless about your safety, well being and careers, all they care about is themselves and what's in it for them.

When you go to work during the summit meetings be aware that you are at a very high risk to be activated as a reactionary force.
Now is the time to talk with your families before you commit to going into work in order to save someone who could careless about you and your ability to provide for your family.

Things will not only happen in the City of Chicago, suburban areas will be affected as well. We should all be prepared no matter what unit your in. What better way to cause a disruption, every available resource is downtown, so lets go to the suburbs where 5 guys are on patrol and start some shit. It will happen. So be prepared when you come to work during the summit. None of these summits have gone on without thousands upon thousands of protestors. Why on earth would anyone think just because were not in the City that shit won't happen. REALLY ...

When are we going to band together and say enough is enough. All these bastards care about saving money on overtime. Courts paid out only 700k in ot, jail 14 million, and sheriffs police 3 million. Why does our dept tollerate this? Is our life worth less than a few bucks in ot to properly staff the facilities? we have had 4 deputies put in the hospital in just the last month. I agree the pathological liar was such a fucking joke. He was a glorified chauffer and fooled everyone including Dart. He NEVER made an arrest in his life and knows about as much as Darts inner circle about police work, which is nothing. We should worry thou, the arrogance of the current administration, none of which know A THING ABOUT POLICEWORK nor was any of them ever the police, will lead us all down the tubes during the G8.

WAKE UP DART, this is not a fucking TV show where all comes out good at the end. People will get hurt if you don’t put competent people in charge to run things.

DON’T BLAME ANYONE BUT YOURSELF ABOUT HOW THE POLICE DEPT IS RUNNING. YOU PUT EVERY ONE OF THESE PEOPLE IN CHARGE. ITS ENTIRLY YOUR FUCKING FAULT. LOOK IN THE MIRROR.

January 31st, 2012 - Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle is announcing that 80% of Cook County suburbs responded affirmatively to a survey asking if they would annex unincorporated areas, where the County would pay the suburban police a contracted fee for police service there instead of paying Sheriff's Police.
Sheriff's officials have been shown signed documents that purport to show 80% of Cook County suburbs support this back-door plan to eliminate 232 Sheriff's Police patrol officer positions that currently cost $19 million a year. This tiny fraction of the massive $4 billion County budget is the latest sacrificial lamb to Preckwinkle's reckless disregard for our Department's tradition of providing dedicated public service to the citizens of Cook County.
AFSCME and our membership must immediately and in the strongest possible way address Preckwinkle's back-door plan to summarily eliminate 232 dedicated career police officers from our ranks. Preckwinkle has apparently had private sector consultants working on this plan, poring over maps and statistics, for the last 6 months. Preckwinkle apparently believes she can set her plan in motion within six months, and can wholly eliminate the Sheriff's Police from her budget by the end of 2012.
I urge everyone currently or previously involved with the Union to immediately start disseminating this information and to consolidate our ranks on this issue. Contact your County Commissioner, local village managers, and anyone else who will be affected by this poorly thought out plan.
In addition to professionally policing unincorporated areas, the Sheriff's Police provides enormous expert resources to multiple task forces, gang crime problems Countywide, Evidence Technician services to many agencies, polygraph examiners assisting Chicago Police and others, and investigative support ... at no cost to the receiving agency.
Right now it takes the County 6 to 9 months just to pay vendors for office supplies, so if the suburbs think the County will promptly and fully pay them for contracted police services when tax revenues are constricting, they are mistaken. Where suburban village managers see a chance to plug the holes in their local budgets and expand their own police force, they must bear in mind that the County does not have a good record of paying its bills. When the County fails to remit its fees on time, how will suburbs pay their newly expanded police force? Borrow money to pay salaries at interest until the County finally pays the bill, and lose the difference?
Right now, every police department in Cook County, including the Chicago Police Department, receives some expert service or benefit from the Cook County Sheriff's Police at no charge. Most suburbs are struggling to keep the officers they have while budgets shrink, and requests for help have only increased. The money Preckwinkle proposes to pay the suburbs will never allow them to do on their own what we can do together.

Good luck CCSPD

80% of the 128 communities responded to be interested in annexing un incorporated areas in cook. These are the same 128 towns we help and back up everyday. The true fact of the matter is the law enforcement model that we have in Cook County if ineffective and terribly inefficient. As usual the communities in Illinois are subject to the fiefdoms of local governments who have no idea of what a future long term law enforcement model is. By annexing these pockets may be a short term fix to save 18 million to the county in its behemoth 3 billion dollar budget, the real true savings would be for the county to contract with the towns to provide law enforcement service. That is the clear wave of the future and what offers communities to see a real savings in their check book. This is a model that is working through out our country. Not re inventing the wheel here, but the facts are the facts. To contract with suburban towns those small departments have no need to pay for that infrastructure. NO chief, No 1st dep Cheif, No other Command staff, No pension liabilities, No liability insurance and the list can go on. As a larger "metro" concept you can patrol and provide law enforcement resources more effectively which means more efficent. The car theif doesnt live in the same neighborhood where he steals his cars anymore, those days are over. The thief crosses one jurisdictional line after another all the while these small law enforcement entities dont cross those lines and the thief knows it. The model we have is a70's model true to the political environment we live in. It needs to change.

Anonymous said...

Sorry to say it, but the CCSPD is finished!

Thanks DART & Prickwinkle.

Are these towns the same ones that loudly voiced their opposition to taking over the police service in the Forest Preserves?
What's changed all of a sudden from then to now?

Anonymous said...

I do not believe the Sheriff will sell anyone out. There maybe a handful of individuals that have provided poor advice. You can only be as successful as the people you surround yourself with. That not only applies to command staff but to each and everyone of you who stand ready to respond at the jail, in a court facility or those who are the first responders to emergency calls for service. Don't be part of the problem, be part of the solution. It does not take one so inclined to fully understand the world of politics to understand the system as a whole is a failure. From some local town government all the way to the state level. We must commit to affirm an inherent change in the way we provide essential service.
Make a difference each and everyday. If you choose not to make a difference today, then go back to bed.

Could not find any news story to verify the latest ccspd doomsday rumor.

So is this real or is it yet another doomsday rumor?

Anonymous said...

Afsme,Here's a question I hope you are looking in to...Fuckwinkle says she will save 19 million by layoffing off 232 Policemen. Now we need to know What is she going to pay the towns to do this? Now how much do we bring in each year in revenue.See my thinking? Where is the saving? What are her and Darts real motives here? Please find out.

Anonymous said...

There is NO advantage for these smaller entities to annex anything. The county may say we will pay you for the service. Those payments may total 10-12 million /year providing the county sends them a check for their troubles. Pay them to PATROL and handle the volume of cases we handle. I dont think it makes fiscal sense for these towns to do it. What happens when the money the towns are paid runs out due to a rise in crime or shortfall in overall revenue the towns expect. Back to the county for more money. This very short term solution solves no problem. We are in the business to solve problems. Towns at best have 2 beat cars on the street with 1-2 detectives with a case load of 20 each. Ask our Detectives what their case load is, some guys are near 50 and we have 20 Detectives. The plan to annex is a failure from the start and when those who think they know the answer realize it, they will be much better off. Short term fix for an inherently long lasting problem in need of change.

Could not find any news story to verify the latest ccspd doomsday rumor

The real deal is the survey was sent to 35 towns and NOT all of the 127 municipalities in Cook Co. Of the 35, 80% responded. Thats 80% of 35 NOT 80% of 127. Of the 80% that responded favorably there were many conditions in which they would be willing to do it, the main one from what I gather, is money / funding which the County doesn't have in the first place. The letter that was sent was only partially correct but enough to lower moral even more (if thats possible). Just keep doing your jobs like the professionals you should be and be seen patroling
our areas by the residents. Don't let the only time one of our residents see you is when they're getting some bullshit ticket.

OK.

Before we all go flying off the handle, can someone, anyone from the command staff or the executive office get in front of this and tell us precisely what is going on?

I know we have no Chief, so that means someone needs to step up and lead us, infrom us and guide us.

Since November, nothing has come out of the square outside of some BS medical return to duty personnel memos.

When there is a lack of leadership, there will be chaos. We now have full chaos which is manifested itself in rumors, and this was caused by a lack of information, guidence and LEADERSHIP.

We have all of the gadflys on the blog, the people at the square and the people out here in the districts telling me their version of the truth.

I have said it before and i'll say it again right here and now, we need leadership at the square. There is no reason whatsoever for this to go on like this and scare the shit out of a bunch of good hardworking people that deliver police service everyday.

In rollcall, we have PPO's that are scared shitless about this. I know of 2-3 people that are thinking of going back to corrections or courts. They have familys to support.

One guys wife just had his 4th child delivered before he graduated. Why in the hell would he and 25 other people be drawn into this just to lose their jobs upon graduating FTO training?

So Sheriff Dart, Chief Smith and Deputy Chiefs Ruel, Cassidy and Konrad, someone out there in Maywood needs to step up and tell us what is happening, what they are doing individually and collectively to stop this (if it is even true)and most importantly what we must do above and beyond the rah-rah get more tickets speech to stop this if we can.

Thank you for you prompt official response.

There may be more to this than we are led to believe. Dart recently came out and said that he could do a better job at the morgue than Prickwinkles peeps are doing, an insult to her. Now to get back at Dart we'll get rid of his people. This would be political suicide for Dart and Prickwinkle. Yet the Forest Preserve Police just hired a bunch of Officers. Maybe Maverick and Goose can help...

As a unincoporated crook county resident I could care less if the sheriff's police were entirely disbanded. About a year ago a neighbor's home was burglarized. Oh, one of your glorious detectives came out and looked around for a brief moment with a patrol officer. Then nothing. No follow up. No return calls. Nothing. Apparent this is what some of you mean by a great police service that will be missed. No my neighbor will not miss it and neither will I. He might as well have never called to report the burgalry because nobody has EVER given him a status of the alleged investigation. Yes I know why because it was all smoke and mirrors and little to no investigation was ever completed. But the sheriff's department didn't even have the courtesy to tell him something, anything, even the truth maybe there were no leads to follow up on. But instead they just took the report, left and would not ever return a call. Oh yes the unincorporated residents just love the sheriff's department - NOT. All I ever see is your squads speeding out of there gas station sub-post hang out on the infrequent occasion they get a call. I'll stay in my comfortable courtroom and disregard future attempts to get on the soon to be extinct CCSPD. To some of you who are my friends face the facts most residents will not miss your service or lack thereof.

Dont you guys realize this is political payback by preckwinkle. When our tv celebrity sheriff tried under undercut her on the county Morgue debacle. He went behind her back and told the press that he warned preckwinkle's office of the County morgue problems over 6 months ago. This infuriated preckwinkle and two days later this surfaces. I dont know whats worse are idiot celebrity Sheriff or preckwinkle playing politics with our jobs. Here is the clown dart two days ago sticking his nose where is doesn't belong once again!

"Using what they learned from Burr Oak, Dart said his office would take over the burial function and move bodies out of the morgue quicker. He also said inmates could be responsible for making the coffins"

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, there is not anyone left at the CCSPD who ever led anyone.

DART -- Attorney & Politician

SMITH - Attorney improving his pension

CASSIDY - Same as above, however, he understands police work since he has been locked up before.

RUEL - Never did any police work. His girlfriend made him what he is when she was Darts press girl.

KONRAD - Nice guy who never did anything. Similar to Ed McMahon.

These guys will never do anything for any officers period. I guarantee it.

I also believe that if this idea ever went forward it would take years to be in place. I cannot see Crook County ever reimbursing locals for doing police service nor can I see them ever giving up jobs/power. If Peckwinkle wants to start cutting why is the CC Forest Preserve Police still around. Remember she spoke of disbanding them prior to getting the job. The CCSPD could easily take over the preserved, however, DART did not want them.

Hopefully DART will leave & things may get better.

So far this is mainly Political posturing. My best to all of you.

The offense of Burglary happens thousands of times a day and the most difficult crime to clear. No witnesses, no additional information, no leads. Good chance in won't get solved. Preckwinkle says its payback time. Lets see how its works out for tommy to lose his baby (Sheriffs Police)

Though most of the criticism was leveled at the cemetery, the investigation also highlighted problems at the medical examiner's office. In particular, Sheriff Tom Dart and others have been troubled by office's inability or unwillingness to monitor the cemetery that has a county contract to handle indigent burials or take the most basic recordkeeping steps to ensure they know remains are being released properly and exactly where they're taken.

"From a pure law enforcement standpoint, it will or has already compromised our ability to close out missing persons investigations," said Dart.

Dart said he was astounded to learn that the office, after storing bones of unidentified victims of serial killer John Wayne Gacy for about 30 years, decided to release the bones to a cemetery for burial.

"We asked them, 'Why didn't you call us?' and they had no reason," said Dart, whose detectives learned what happened when they went to retrieve the bones late last year for DNA samples they needed in their effort to identify the remains.

"Using what they learned from Burr Oak, Dart said his office would take over the burial function and move bodies out of the morgue quicker. He also said inmates could be responsible for making the coffins"

Hello Mr. Anonymous,

You have a point about ego's and attitudes in the SP, however what you fail to realize is that ALL of the Sheriff's Police currently on the books have done YOUR job in the past, weather it was for one year or 20 years. YOU have never worked OUR job for one day!

So you can sign anonymous and spew your rants and wish ill will for the department members, but remember we are decent people and have familys to support. If you can live with the fact that some of us might be out of work in the future, you are a sick SOB!

Obviously you failed comprehension 101. Evidence techs do not determine the cause of death, the Medical Examiners office does not as is clearly stated in the article.

Did you read the article?

At the time, sheriff's investigators said it was obviously a suicide because there was no trail of blood, the priest was found in a locked bathroom and some friends reported he had been acting strangely of late.

Statement From Cook County Sheriff regarding the October 2009 priest death investigation:

"After a thorough investigation this case was cleared and closed, the manner of death was determined by the Medical Examiner's Office to be a suicide, which was consistent with our investigation. After the investigation the Sheriff's Office met with Father Waclaw Jamroz's family, the Polish Consulate and the Chicago Archdiocese to review the findings.

Father's body was found in a small bathroom in his residence, he was lying (inside the bathroom) against the closed bathroom door. To gain entrance to the bathroom investigators had to take the door off its hinges. As with any scene with puncture wounds there was a large amount of blood on the floor. There were neither foot prints in the bathroom nor the room adjacent to the bathroom that would have been left by someone fleeing a bloody scene after a struggle. The rest of the residence was not disturbed in any way; not a spec of blood anywhere, nothing stolen, none of the doors/windows were broken and the doors were locked. The house was secured; there were no signs of forced entry."

Dear Inv. Kane:

Can I live with some of the SP out of work. Well let me put it this way are you saying if you didn't have this job you would be totally unemployable? If this is the case you have become too comfortable in your government job and in large part this is why the majority of the public hate us. Have you ever worked with coworkers on the SP who are just lazy, whiny cry babies who sit on their asses the entire shift? I have. Would I worry if some of them were let go. Hell no. If you don't want to do the job you're being paid to do then bye, bye, because you are a negative reflection on all of us. Do you think the administration could be down sized? I do. Face it there are areas to cut in the sheriff's department and if this means people got to go because there is no more money left to bleed from the few remaining tax paying residents then cuts need to be made. Remember the name Maverick for 2014.

Lets talk cuts:
!. How about all of the attorneys Dart hired. Carpet baggers !!

2. Get rid of all the Commanders and let them go back to their rank of Lt. They're not worth the extra money.

3. Do we need all those press secretaries?

4. We have way too many appointed positions. Most of them are just taking what they can get till Dart leaves!

5. TK at the jail is a complete waste of money along with all the guys he's hired from CPD.

6.Do we need all those supervisors in Investigations??

7. Maybe the Bosses at Maywood could work a full day.

6. Dart is the Chief of Police, but never is seen at Maywood. If you can't be there get a Chief who knows what he's doing to run the PD. Just not a retired carpet bagger from the city.

7. Get a First Deputy who is a Professional Law Enforcement Officer. Not a guy Anita fired and he needed a job.

When you start running this place in a professional manner you'll get much better results.

I'm glad we are focusing on a common enemy here and that person is of course Mike Kane. Mike Kane as everyone knows is the person using his position as County Board President to eliminate district weekend bond courts, continue a freeze on new deputy hires, and attempting to eliminate the police. Mike Kane is the person who takes his marching orders from The Civic Federation and will implement any action they call for. I don't give a fuck if all three sworn bodies of the Sheriff's department get along take long walks on the beach. But we can get together and take care of the puppet of The Civic Federation. Cook County is a political animal and no amount Shakman will ever change that. Most of us reading this will never rise of above the rank we hold now. Some people, like me, wereblessed to make Sheriff's Police and get a nice pay raise. But we all basically want the same thing, to be provided with the tools to work in the safest environment possible and collect a pension. The current County Board President Mike Kane doesn't want that. so he's gotta go. there's about 5,500 sworn Sheriff's employees. More when you count the civilians. Our unions need to form a Political Action Committee and start throwing money at candidates that we endorse, and get rid of the Mike Kane's of the world. The police union has a union meeting coming up and I hope this idea is considered there. Mike Kane day's of being the lap dog of The Civic Federation start making sense. Money is power. This is how the game has been played for years. The game be will continued to be played long after we our gone. Let's get in the game. Let's back a candidate other than Mike Kane, the pawn of The Civic Federation. This won't get anyone promoted or make it rain gum drops. But it will get us the muscle we need to raise the big issues we demand. I'm a bit of a smart ass so I'll drop the sarcasm and just say it straight. The Sheriff's Department through it's unions need to form groups that will create funds and financially support political candidates.

LOLOLOL I would love to see that. Many of you guys run back to the safety of the courtroom or tier when you get the chance to be the police. Putting on a badge and gun does not make you the police. I know its hard to believe

Clemmons, you would need a realy large membership to come up with the money to stop jerkoff candidates like "mike kane". What organization do you know of that isn't fucked with by preckwinkle? There's an answer but I'm not sure you want to hear about it.

Thomas Jude Clemmons said...

I'm not saying we'll be flush with money to contribute to candidates from the start but our union locals can contribute money, and we can also hold fundraisers. We can also take contributions directly from the members. I'll kick in a couple bucks a paycheck. I know we won't get anywhere near 100% participation but if we did and only collected $1 from every sworn employee every pay check e'd grow by over $10,000 a month in the fund. The fact is we have to start from somewhere. We can just come on here bitch about the problems in Cook County or we can try and control our own destiny. It'll be an uphill battle, but I'm fucking sick of being on the bottom of the hill hoping some politician will make my live better. You are right about one thing I don't want to know how much money we need, but I'll think of ways to accomplish what we as the entire Sheriff's Department should have done years ago.

That 5100 Car said...

The County may cut some CCSPD, but won't get any burbs to patrol unincorporated areas after they close the outlying bond courts. These PD's have to go through shit to transport the arrestees to 26th St. instead of the District courts. Why would they help patrol county areas in any way.

In addition, let's face it, almost all those unincorp. areas are still unincorp. for a reason...No suburb wants them. Think anyone wants Nottingham Pk, Cent. Stickney, that area out near Lynwood, Ford Hts., those Sec.8 apt. complexes up northwest, Porn Bookstore Alley (along with the Tex-Mex Apartments that go with them)? Most of the new subdivisions over the last 20 yrs or so have been snatched up after being unincorp for a year or two by neighboring burbs. The ones mentioned above have not and will not be incorporated by any burbs. The bad far outweighs the good with them. They'd have to make Township Constables if CC took LE away from them.

The County also needs a force that can offer assistance to smaller PD's if the need arises.

It would make much more sense to get rid of the Forest Preserve PD and have CCSPD handle the woods (This was brought up on a regular basis when I worked for them, prior to being on CPD). If this plan happens, and I was a neighboring Chief of Police, assuming the Mayor of my Town went along with it, I'd want the County to fund at least 2 coppers/their oensions/vehicles/training, no matter how small the area, and my Town would keep all fines collected from my personnel's enforcement. In other words, I'd tell them to pound sand and that they better have a Marshal or Constable out there.

End this with that I worked for the County many years ago and could have gone to CCSPD. Have worked for CPD for 25 yrs. Hope this doesn't happen to you guys, never want to see any coppers laid off/ lose their jobs.

Anonymous said...

Tom, one big problem that keeps us divided is that in times of crisis, or any time for that matter, AFSCME refuses to communicate with Teamsters. Remember when she brought up furlough days, layoffs etc? Threats like that and others were off the table as quickly as she brought them up not just Sheriff's people but anyone under the umbrella. The PAC you're talking about is good thinking but there is already an organization that doesn't get messed with by TP, Rahm or the Gov. The hardest part for your people seems to be an issue of pride. This is merely food for thought from a friend that doesn't want anything but the best for all of us. Explore every option, the peth that works may not be the easiest.
