This talk of eliminating CCSPD affects everyone. If your in the jail or the courts, where do you think your advancement is when their is no CCSPD? This is your future as well.

Latest rumor:

Toni wants to beef up the Forest Preserve Police while she knifes CCSPD. They literally make half of what we do and don't get a take home car. Not cool at all.

Anonymous said...

1st I second hearing about beefing up on Forest preserve because they are a lot cheaper.

2nd **** off to the exclusionist who said only Sheriff's Police to the meeting. I can't make it, but to all my courts, corrections, and D.C.S.I, and whatever other units are out there brothers and sisters please come out show your support for us!

3rd "I got lucky" wink wink. The only way to advance to the C.C.S.P.D. is 19th ward, political donation, political connection. Be real.

I asked about the moat and no one seemed to know anything about it. I think thats a bad rumor. Thats good because I didn't want to patrol a moat all day long. I believe it is time to think. Let's look at some words:

LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS: A group of individuals sworn to uphold the law of the land for the safety, security, and betterment of the community.

BROTHERHOOD: Individuals who share a common belief or goal. To that end, they support one another in an effort to achieve said goals.

PROFESSIONALISM: To act in such a manner that brings credit to a person and their occupation. Those that do their best in a manner that reflects positively on themselves

RESPECT: To treat others as you would wish to be treated, in words, thoughts, deeds, and actions.

ASSERTIVENESS: The ability to express one's opinion, while still respecting other's.

This is a very short list to which many more words and their meanings need to be added. We in the Sheriffs Office need to be aware of this short list. None of these words or definitions include terms such as, "Chief", "Supervisor", "Police Officer", "Correctional Ofiicer", "Deputy Sheriff","Sergeant",Lieutenant",
"Captain", or any other distinction other than: "Individual, Person, Themselves".

We cannot afford to continue this nonsensical game of undercutting one another. There is no positive that can come from it. To continue this pattern will only serve to weaken any strength we have left. So as suggested, maybe as many people as possible should attend the upcoming meeting. But come with an attitude of unity, not separationists. Have well thoughout suggestions, not just continual gripes. In general be ASSERTIVE as a BROTHERHOOD of LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS that RESPECT one another and conduct ourselves with PROFESSIONALISM.

When are they going to indict, Mayor Daley, Aldercreature Burke, Mike Madigan and the rest of the crooks that are just sucking us all dry. That would really be justice

I'm hearing a big shake up at the police department is coming real soon. Every thing has been hush, hush but word is starting to filter out of the square. Stay tuned.

Anonymous said...

The unannounced/unofficial plan is this:

Allow as much land as wanted/possible to be annexed by towns. Lay off the C.C.S.P.D. and offer the D.O.C. spots. For some reason (don't know) Toni is tired of all the hiring at the jail. So backfilling with C.C.S.P.D. will end it. Pay towns to patrol whats left of unincorporated on a contractual basis. Last, hire more Forest Preserve Police as they can fill in for "police" were needed at a much lower cost then Sheriff's Police.

How much of this that can happen remains to be seen, but it is on the table.

If you are going to work at the jail you won't need a take home car and you will get jail pay. It's better than no pay. Don't worry, all is not lost. We have a few cars that say POLICE on them so you might feel a little better. What a mess. Some poor guy is out there saying to anybody that will listen,"I'm a Sgt.of POLICE, I'm a Commander, I'm a Detective, I earned it, I was the most qualified, now I have to go and work as a CO.
I think that answers your question.

That's almost comical, Big shake up, bigger than before when attorneys came in to run things and decided that a chief of police isn't necessary! All the sworn personnel running around kissing all their asses. Bigger than that, come on! Bigger than all the ridiculous silliness that goes on on a daily basis?

For all those that come to this blog to celebrate the potential of people losing their jobs, I just feel sorry for you.

Jealousy is a powerful emotion. But to harbor that much anger and jealousy that you would actually feel joy about people losing their jobs, I just feel sorry for you.

I am sure at one time you were a happy, vibrant person, full of enthusiasm and ambition. Only you can really pinpoint what turned you into such a hateful monster overflowing with jealousy and frustration. I have my theories, but I will not allow myself to regress to your level. Because, I just feel sorry for you.

Even if I do lose my job, I will move on to something else and succeed. You however, will still be wallowing in your own anger. You will find another target to focus your jealousy and spew your hatred towards. That is the life cycle of an angry, jealous disgruntled person. The life you have chosen for yourself. And for that, I just feel sorry for you.

I am sure you will come back with some clever, angry retort. But that is fine, because after you shut your computer off you have to continue on with your petty existence. And for that, I just feel sorry for you.

HEY TEAMSTERS LOCAL 700

Whatever happened to that rigged evictions bid? 17 19th ward connected deep throats with nice knee pads and velvet tounges got it. I AM GLAD SENORITY MEANS SOMETHING.

Whats up with the 2 deputies that were on the first list and then it got amendended to in the second list with one deputy that hides in the bushes at Daley to avoid doing O/Is and the one from Domestic Violence greatest claim is she been playing in midget bagpipers little band for years. Then again her former chief is the Chicago alderman's son. So she was probably working him over in the office every day.

THESE 2 WERE THE BEST QUALIFIED WITH LESS TIME ON THE JOB THEN EVEN FLUFFER? Hey evicitions guys watch your backs around the Daley Center guy (J.G.) as he will be hiding in the bushes on you. But just follow the trail of 10w40 he uses on his hair or the reflection of a mirror as he stares at himself in it, but remember he is a tough guy.

FUCKING PATHETIC. SO MUCH FOR SHAKLESTIEN & CO AND SENORITY.

WTF SMH He was fired by S.O.S. Police, Maywood, Dixmoor, and probably 5 other agencies. He has been kicked out of about eery street unit in courts. He has a file room dedicated just for him at o.p.r. How the hell is he still employed here? A true testament to the fact it takes an act of congress to fire a total asshole but the county is still going after R.M.'s and R.M.'s jobs off of midnights at the square and those two are decent guys.

With all the nonsense going on with the CCSPD and the county board president everyone who works for the Sheriff's Office should stop and think for just a minute. Instead of DOC and Courts people talking about how getting rid of CCSPD would be a good lesson in humility for all the people on the CCSPD, think about this. If Madam President was able to abolish the CCSPD just how easy would it be for her to privatize the jail as well as the courts? Other counties have done it. So (AGAIN) lets stop bashing eachother on this blog and start backing eachother.

When CCSPD gets bumped back to DOC, we need to get our 1% pension plus interest we have been putting into the pension. It's not much per individual but collectively it could put a staple in Prickwinkle's ass.

Also, our union needs to make sure the reassignments go by County seniority and not rank. If it doesn't, I'm hiring a lawyer.

I'm really tired of the idiots who can't wait for the CCSPD guys to get transferred back to the jail. You don't know what your asking for. We're going to take day spots from you. Monday-Friday
0700-1500. They're going to make seniority retroactive because going to the PD was a promotion. Says so on my letter. Any two-bit fly by night lawyer is going to have a field day with this. Just make sure you tell your wife that you won't be home on midnights anymore to sleep with her. That's not the worst news. All the SPD guys have more clout than you guys at the jail. Who do you think is going to get all the promotions? There will be two hundred SPD guys coming back that have more clout than 95% of of the DOC guys.

Shitty thought huh?

Anonymous said...

So let me get this straight........

Your talking about something very different. Yes of course a dad should take care of his son. We are talking about reasons why the city of Chicago has been voted MOST CORRUPT city in the nation. Patronage and politics mixed with law enforcement eventually gets officers killed. This is NOT a slight at the guy. It's stating that there are so many well qualified people wasting away here because they don't have a phone call. Clean up has to start somewhere or we will continue to be jokes in the law enforcement community! Aren't you tired of our command staff being a dumping ground for inexperienced political hacks? How about a merit board made from within our ranks. OPR made and ran from within our ranks. How about to be in command anywhere in the SHERIFFS DEPT. you had to actually be a deputy sheriff, or C.O. then a Sgt. Then a lt. People leading that actually did our jobs. It started to look like it was going to happen. As usual, 1 step forward, 100 steps backward!

Do your 33 and a 1/3, get your 80% pension and 3% a year bump. Enjoy your family and friends. Give extra if you want but remember, doing a great job, giving 110% doesn't mean SHIT. Busting your ass for the most part will only lead to you being disappointed when you don't get promoted or appreciated. To sum things up.....WELCOME TO THE COOK COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT! Leave ambition and motivation at the door.

Anonymous said...

If that aldercreatures kid gets promoted I am going to throw up. But it would definitely not surprise me. Anywhere you go in the county it's not what you know it's who you know. Response to the comment from a sheriffs copper a while back about doc getting their lazy asses in shape and passing a power test.

I was doc for many years and on the sheriffs police list 3 times. Never got a call for a power test or interview or anything. The greatest thing that happened in my career was the day the phone rang for CPD. I passed the oral, the power, the poly graph, and the psych (how many sheriff's copper ever took a poly or psych?). Its isn't about all the doc guys being lazy asses. They just accept their fate and know that they are never going because they didn't sell their soul toa politicain, machine etc. or that they weren't born into a family with 19th ward ties.

Chicago my be just as dirty and corrupt but I am very greatfull for the hiring blitz CPD had in the early to mid 00s that got me in. Now its impossible unless you have heavy juice too.

You CCSPD guys want to save your jobs? How about you lower the cost of patrol? All you guys have take home cars- give them up! How much money do you guys spend on gas alone coming to and from your house? A bunch of you guys live way outside the county and use a stupid amount of fuel! How much can the county save by having you drive to a district to get a car? Enough to save a few guys jobs maybe? Are you willing to give up your car so another one of your guys keeps his job? Come up with some cost cutting efforts to save each other! Quit bitching and blaming the guards and Deps for your problems because they serve papers or warrants. Do your job PATROLMAN and worry about you and yours. Honestly, we give a crap about you as much as you care about us. As another poster said the only time you want to call us "brother" is when your heads are on the chopping block.

Okay, let's talk about KC,KJ,DW...

How have they fucked people over? From what I've seen, their hands are tied on most issues. When someone higher than them say "do this, don't do that" what choice do they have?
I've have worked with and for all of them. Instead of looking at a few mistakes look at the many positives. Point #1, we are finally getting more deputies! Those 3 you people love to bash are the main reason it got pushed through. DW is also responsible for finally updating our training. KJ can be a micro manager but she's not the one going after our wallets and would never let her people get hurt. KC, AWWW you don't like who he promoted? If you don't agree with guys like LJ making lt. your a moron!

Anonymous said...

No one is going anywhere. The DOC guys will work in the DOC where they were hired. The Courts guys will work in the Courts where they were hired. The Police will continue to be the Police. Came from the ranks of DOC and the Courts. Just go out do your job to the best of your ability. Help each other out when the need arises and move forward. All this negativity breeds unnecessary hostility towards each other for no reason. If you believe that this place is in such disarray then have a good look around at any of the agencies in our area, they are no prize. Some good and some bad. After that if you still are not happy simply walk away, no one is holding you back.

Anonymous said...

CCSPD giving up cars to save themselves? Sad thing is that it might work but would NEVER happen! Way to many self centered people in that department. Me me me me me, not us us us us us. I also have to agree with q previous poster. You guys only start talking about unity calling us brothers when your about to get fucked! Do I want you to lose your jobs? Of course not. But let's say it, clout doesn't last forever. If you guys have to come back, just be happy you have a job!!

How about to be in command anywhere in the SHERIFFS DEPT. you had to actually be a deputy sheriff, or C.O. then a Sgt. Then a lt.
*******

That would make no difference.

How about going BACK to the Illinois State Statute that authorized and set in place, THE COOK COUNTY POLICE AND CORRECTIONS MERIT BOARD where anyone could apply for the job without being a Dep or CO first? Ask any veteran P/O or C/O for the copy of Merit Borad Rules and Regulations issued them back in the day. Read it and weep!
What a scam (having to be a Dep or C/O FIRST) that change and prerequisite became...really kept alot of good people from getting where they wanted and actually deserved to be.

After Sheriff Dart undercut Preckwinkle on the County morgue, he doubles down. BY, BY Sheriff's police. IT's all about Tom Dart.

As bodies piled up at the Cook County Morgue, Catholic Cemeteries offered to ease the crisis by providing free grave sites to the medical examiner.

That offer, made weeks ago, has gone nowhere, prompting new questions about mismanagement at the county morgue.

It was an offer that seemed too good to refuse in early February. Catholic Cemeteries would simply give 300 individual graves to county officials so poor families could have dignified burials of their loved ones.

Wednesday night, though, there appears to be no such thing as a free burial in Cook County, as the gravesite offer seems caught up in misunderstanding and miscommunication and may end up as a missed opportunity.

Szabelski contacted Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, who he had helped in 2009 when Dart investigated a grave desecration and reselling scheme at Burr Oak Cemetery. To save the county money, Dart offered to have jail inmates build coffins for the indigent burials.

"They haven't taken advantage of this offer at all to date, I'm not quite clear why. It's something that, I'll be quite honest with you, should have been acted on immediately. To think of an organization like the Catholic Cemeteries being so outrageously generous and us just not acting overnight," said Dart. "I mean, I don't have a lot of patience, and for something like this, this is something we need to restore people's faith in our county and that we have a crisis, we deal with it decisively - quickly."

"We definitely appreciate the offer," said Cook County Chief Administrative Officer Robin Kelly.

Despite the offer, Wednesday, in an exclusive interview, Kelly, who oversees the Medical Examiner's office, said the bodies in the morgue cannot simply be moved en masse and buried in Catholic Cemeteries.

"No, it's not going to be that we're taking 300 bodies and burying them there, no, that's not the intent," said Kelly. "If it ever occurred where we needed a backup for burial, then we could take advantage of that."

"Remember, some of those bodies could be veterans, some of the bodies, the family may already have an arrangement made where their loved one or their friend is going to be buried at," said Kelly. "We just can't take everybody. We don't have the right to do that."

Media savvy Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart may be headed to...showtime!

Sneed has learned film producers Marc Levin and Mark Benjamin, whose Sundance Channel reality TV series “Brick City” co-starring Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy when he was Newark, N.J., police chief, are packaging a similar TV show pilot starring Dart.

Is anyone else looking at this and shaking their head and asking,"What is this".

Speaking of Glass houses, where should we start....uuuummmmmm underaged kid walks into a supposed secure police station, signs out a vehicle, drives around town making traffic stops and issuing tickets. Probably was more productive the the rank and file on any given day at that particular police station. So lets go on to the two highly trained CPD Officers on the north side that decided to pick up a girl while on duty, drive around with her, purchase alcohol and then retire to her residence to have a threesome. UUUUMMMMMM.....lets see of course there is another highly trained officer that decided to beat up a defenseless little bartender. Guess she wasn't serving drinks fast enough. UUUUMMMMM....then there are numerous incidents with the elite narcotics units. Did a few recently get indicted after they got caught shaking down drug dealers for their money???? While we are on it how about Finnigain, Mejanouski (don't think I spelled it right..but you know who he is) Running out of room here. My point is yes the county is messed like any other law enforcement agencies and I include the FEDS in this too. But you can't paint everyone with a broad brush and generalize. How did the new G.O. on custody releases come into exsistence? That is the new G.O., where we have to let releases from bond court use the phone to call for a ride and not tell them to go to Popeyes and call someone collect. We have to tell them where the nearest shelters are, and help them with directions. What happened that caused the department to create such a G.O.? Whose responsibility is it to make sure that the releases are told this info and receive the sheet that is attached to the G.O? Is it the supervisor or the officers responsibility to tell everyone that they can use the phone and so forth? If it is the officers job, some would tell them but many would not.

It's called common sense and being kind to your fellow man, even if he/she was arrested for DUI, etc. which most arrestees/releases are accused of.
Since the majority of felons etc. have very high bonds and they are not privy to getting their hands on high amounts of cash them getting released at the court houses is minimal.

Relax and do your job correctly. Be a professional and all will be fine.

Sadly, that is what our department has become. "That is not my problem," should be the official Sheriff's department slogan. Too many of us act that way. Another slogan could be, " We make the rules, now it's your problem to enforce them." My third choice would be, " Let me be a slug because they get paid the same as people who work."

GO was released because an attorney at rolling meadows or skokie was held in contempt and taken in. It was a no bond for 1 day. His non-compliant property was inventoried per GO and his cell phone couldnt go with to the DOC. He ended up being released at like 0230 and left DOC doors with no ride/money/phone. He wrote TD a letter and i think media aswell. I think(not sure)DOC got a GO saying no releases after 2100hrs. Deputies did nothing wrong and inventoried his property according to the current(at the time) CCSDGO.

1).Keatings been locked up ever since his arrest and tell me-did he ever roll over on anyone. Was that good or bad/smart or stupid? A matter of opinion I guess.

2).The entire Vice Unit DID NOT go to jail and those that did-did not go for stealing money from the strip joints.

3).Don't know about the Dixmore thing...tell us more?

4).Let's say that 'IceCream' didn't "run" the "chop-shop". Didn't do anything about it either! Maybe he's guilty of not submitting a Secondary Employment form?

5).Couple guys got jammed for narcotics incidents. They deserved what they got. Fuck them.

7). Outfit hitmen...you must have taken Corbett's book to heart. Now that guy's a piece of work?!?
What County guy was a murdered hitman?

I still believe that the Sheriff's Police given what they have to work with-and thats not much-is doing the best with currently available resources.
The Sheriff's Police was a better Department with the Canine Unit, Special Response Team, Criminal Investigation Unit, Vice Unit, Auto Theft Unit, Meg Unit, Intelligence Unit, Traffic Unit/ Road Rage Cars, Vehicle Services Unit-at the Square, Personnel Section-at the Square, regular roadside safety checks, Quarterly Range Qualifications, Vehicle Inspections and REAL semi-annual Uniform Inspections, REAL vendors for vehicle service, REAL car washes for the cars (When will all the computers finally be up and running??) etc etc etc..
I also think it was better when there were rotating shifts so things were fair for everyone in Patrol. It was better when the Union got Grievances resolved. It was better when several years experience was gained before being transferred to a Specialized Unit. It was better when discipline was fair for all (okay, mostly all...) and an individual was held accountable for their actions and recognition to Officers in the form of Department Awards
for exemplary performance.
Tell me what I've missed?
Like him or not, the Sheriff's Police had many opportunities under Malinowski. Look at what has slowly been stripped away. Even less and less equipment.
Look at who the "bosses" are now and what they have contributed to the morale of the Sheriff's Police Department.
One way or the other-and I believe a positive return will occur-things will change. They have to.
And one last thing-at least Malinowski had balls and got things done in a positive manner for the Police Department. Like him or not-he did it.

Super Slugs;

I ran into this type of patrol mentality in Elk Grove recently. One of the beat cars assigned to a call showed up on the call and stated "This call isn't even our's, it's Elk Grove's and it's not even on my beat".
I stood by with the citizen waiting for the beat car for at least ten minutes and I am sure this patrol unit was hoping the village PD would happen upon it first.
I must say after the police service was rendered this patrol unit was super quick to obtain a case report number for his stats. The eldery citizen was very happy and very thankful for the police assistance we rendered to him.

Just show up and do the work and quit complaining you sound like an ungrateful county bitch.

What was the call, was it in -progress, are you a County P/O?

If you are a County P/O and did nothing other than think for 10 minutes, as you stated about our you-know-whats and try to justify by calling it "personal safety"-I call it being a c-o-w-a-r-d.

Kudo's to Glenview for the kind words and to the Palatine Police Department too!

I agree with the original topic that if the County still had canines-one of those six cars that responded probably would have included a K-9 Unit.

Cain was accepted into the CPD in May 1956 Cain started off as a patrolman but with the help of Giancana, Cain was promoted to the detective bureau

Ogilvie, was elected as sheriff of Cook County. Robert Cooley, a mobster lawyer, claimed in his book, When Corruption Was King (2004), that the Mafia approved Ogilvie's election.

Richard B. Ogilvie appointed Cain as head of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).

Why would any other Officer cheer at the fact that there's a "RUMOR" floating around the County that there jobs will be elminated. Why would anyone want that???Everyday guys like myself have to swallow there pride seeing Officers be made sgt, promoted to ccspd, specialized units, C.I.U, and so on with zero time on the job,no brains to do the job All because they know someone!!! I'ts obvious every single one of us got this job from clout! If you say anything different you're full of shit! But to see the same people move up the food chain or pick and chose where they go sucks. The bottom line is this..... If everyone of us put our differences aside and actually stuck together and stopped dogging each other and actually went after this p.o.s. Sheriff and his cronies we would win!!! Does it really matter what patch you have on your uniform? This is the worse I've ever seen this dept. with there B.S. OPR and there B.S. g.o's along with the fact that they completely disregard that we have a union and do whatever the fuck they want. The county is like the spoiled brat on the block that runs home with there ball because they don't get what they want!!! Please guys and gal's lets try to work on sticking together and keeping each other sane! I hate them just as much as the next guy does. But at the end of the day I will fight to the death helping another officer from ANY branch of our dept. I would love to sign this but for obvious reasons I can't. I bleed blue, and most other do too! Remember that the next time you cheer for another Officer to go down or lose his/her job! I'm sure I'm gonna get ripped on or called a kiss ass! I don't care! I want us to protect each other and stick together! Fuck the gang bangers can do it!!!!!

"personal safety"-I call it being a c-o-w-a-r-d.

Yeah, coward is not performing your job and running away from it, or hiding behind others who have to do it for you.
The PO who was assigned the call crawled to it hoping for someone else to handle it, but that same PO sure likes to receive the hourly wage hit the bank account for doing nothing and attempting to skate out of a call.

Glad to see Judge Brim was locked up for her racist ranting behavior as it's about time. Brim has always had a racist chip on her shoulder and a grate distaste for the police and whites.

What this so called educated person has failed to realize is that the police and whites today had no bearing on what took place 60 or 100 years ago as most of those are now retired or deceased.

One can only hope that Chief Judge Evans immediately places Brim on medical leave and mandates that she performs and completes a mandatory counseling program for angry african american judges before she goes postal in a courtroom.

Good luck

Judge stabbed, deputy shot at Washington state courthouse
By Laura Myers

SEATTLE | Sat Mar 10, 2012 2:08am EST

SEATTLE (Reuters) - A knife-wielding attacker stabbed a judge and shot a sheriff's deputy with the officer's own gun in a county courthouse in Washington state on Friday, prompting a lockdown of schools and government buildings as police and SWAT teams searched for the attacker.

The assailant, described as relatively well dressed and carrying a briefcase, confronted the deputy inside the main entrance of the Grays Harbor County Courthouse in Montesano, County Undersheriff Rick Scott told a news conference.

The suspect stabbed the deputy, then grabbed her gun and shot her, Scott said.

The judge, who saw the commotion from the third floor of the courthouse and ran down to intervene, was stabbed in the neck and torso during the altercation, Scott said.

Both Superior Court Judge Dave Edwards and Deputy Polly Davin were taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital in nearby Aberdeen, where they were released after several hours of treatment, hospital spokesman David Quigg said.

Edwards, a former prosecuting attorney appointed to the bench in 2007, was part of a lawsuit filed by the Superior Court against the county in December that alleged poor courthouse security due to inadequate funding.

The lawsuit said that over the past two years, attorneys were physically assaulted at court, a defendant charged at a judge and a man came to the courthouse armed with a knife.

"Anyone can enter the courthouse carrying weapons," the lawsuit said of the courthouse.

Scott said the courthouse lacks metal detectors.

"We just had a discussion about courthouse security less than a week ago," Scott said. "The need for that is certainly illustrated by what happened here today."

SUSPECT REMAINS AT LARGE

Authorities searched a wide area for the suspect, identified as Michael Thomas, but had not arrested him as of late afternoon.

Another man also identified as Michael Thomas was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant at mid-afternoon in the community of Tumwater, some 40 miles away, a spokeswoman for the Tumwater Police Department said.

Authorities later said he was not the gunman and only shared the same name as the suspect.

"The man in custody is not the alleged shooter," Scott said.

The gunman was described as being in his early 20s and possibly armed with a handgun and a knife. Scott said it was not clear what business he had at the courthouse.

A Grays Harbor County Sheriff's spokesman said that government buildings in Montesano, a community of about 4,000 people, had been temporarily placed on lockdown following the incident. A Montesano School District spokeswoman said schools had also been placed on lockdown.

Josh Bachtell, the owner of Savory Faire bakery in Montesano, said he had locked the doors of his business after the husband of one of his employees said he had seen a gunman running from the courthouse.

"Right after it happened, he came in and told us there was an armed gunman on the loose, so we've locked the doors," Bachtell said. "It looks like there's still a lot of police activity out there."

Yep, Evans won't do a thing. I'm surprised that a black jerge didn't issue a court order to let her go like they used to do when Pincham pulled his usually bullshit.

CCSPD never had a Deputy Chief of Investigations position and there was never a P/O named Richard Cain or John Gattuso...

Those are facts. IF they had anything to do with the Sheriff at that time, they were in "Exempt Rank" positions.

They were not P/O's.

Just like all the civilian bosses from the States Attorney's Office who are now Deputy Chief's. NOT P/O's.
Other "Exempt Ranks" in addition to Deputy Chief's include Directors, Commanders etc.
Preckwinckle (or however you spell her name) needs only to compare an Organaztion Chart of The Cook County Sheriff's Police Department form say, the 80's/90's up to and including todays Organization Chart. Certainly made more sense back then! Same with Court Services. Same with The Department of Corrections. She could save major money there! So many created positions for so many pooches. Even fat Matt bailed out from the BS. I give him credit for that.
Speaking of "Major"-how ironic...that and the Merit rank of Captain are long gone but Preck... will find it right under her nose if she would only take the time to look! Shave off the fat at the top of the pile Preck...!
You'll save the County tons of money and help to restore morale to the County Police, County Correctional Officers and County Deputies!

A Cook County judge was removed from the bench Monday following separate incidents last week in which she was arrested after allegedly shoving a courthouse deputy and also was ordered to leave her Markham courtroom after launching a lengthy tirade.

The Cook County Circuit Court's executive committee, a panel of supervising judges, took the rare action against Judge Cynthia Brim, citing that there was "reasonable cause to believe that a medical examination may reveal" that she is unable to perform her judicial duties.

Brim, 53, is banned from court facilities until further order, according to the order signed by Chief Judge Timothy Evans and 17 other presiding judges. She must be escorted by sheriff's deputies if she has business in a courthouse, the order said.

The order also noted that Brim was charged with a crime, misdemeanor battery, that "reflects adversely on her fitness to serve" and that there are unspecified "allegations of inappropriate conduct by Judge Brim."

Brim was arrested Friday after allegedly shoving a sheriff's deputy at the Daley Center and tossing a set of keys at a security checkpoint.

One day earlier, Brim, who had filled in for other judges, launched into a tirade that lasted about 45 minutes while presiding over a traffic court call at the Markham courthouse, sources said. Judge Brian Flaherty, who was the acting presiding judge that day, eventually asked Brim to leave the courtroom.

Another judge was brought in to hear the traffic cases.

In 2010 Brim was one of four judges reassigned and paired with mentor judges after a TV report alleged they weren't putting in eight-hour workdays.

Thank you Timonthy Evans...

Drug addiction experts sent a message to Naperville parents Monday night there are steps they can take to keep their children away from the growing heroinproblem in the suburbs.

Groll was a panelist at a forum at Wheatland Salem Church titled “Heroin: Stemming the Tide,” that drew about 100 people Monday night. The program was a follow-up to a February session that drew more than 500 people.

Why the decrease in attendence ?...

Monday’s forum gave parents a chance to ask questions of a panel that also included Jim Scarpace, substance abuse program manager with the Gateway Foundation in Aurora; Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow; and Amy and Paul Miller, whose 18-year-old daughter, Megan, died of a heroin overdose.

The forums come on the heels of six heroin deaths in Naperville last year, as well as Megan Miller’s death less than two months ago. Police say those who died ranged in age from 17 to 30.

Heroin arrests also have been increasing in Naperville, with 47 last year, double the number in 2009, according to police. Among Naperville teenagers, there was a 78 percent increase in felony drug arrests in 2011 over the previous year and a 450 percent increase in heroin arrests during that time.

A massive percentage spike...

In Will County, there were 30 fatal overdoses across 14 towns last year, Glasgow said.

“It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, if you take that drug one time … it takes a hold on you like nothing else,” Glasgow said.

And he knows from experience ?...

“The most important thing is know your child’s friends, know where they’re at,” Groll said. “Check up on them.”

Scarpace said school counselors and teachers are being trained to look for signs, but need parents to be cooperative, not defensive.

And what about the local politicians...

When it hit's in their home then they will take some form of action, until then they turn a blind eye because to them it's just statistic's.

The state claims Cook County owes sheriff’s canine officers more than a $500,000 in back-pay for time officers spent caring for their dogs when not on the job.

The Illinois Department of Labor claims the county violated the Illinois Minimum Wage Law between January 2007 and July 2011 when it did not pay 40-hour-per-week canine officers time-and-a-half for the extra hours spent caring for their dogs, according to a suit filed Monday in Cook County Circuit Court.

The state agency’s investigation found canine officers working in the sheriff’s Bomb Unit, Department of Corrections and Court Services were not paid for caring for the dogs on their off days even though they were required to keep them.

The suit, which also lists Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart as a defendant, also is seeking judgment for court costs and other relief.

A sheriff’s spokesman would not comment about the suit.

Way to go & nice job keeping up the union/legal pressure and not giving in to this administration.

State: Cook County owes canine officers $500,000 for overtime pay

I hope you get every penny you are seeking. It's just too bad that ALL dogs will go BYE-BYE.
Do you really think the powers that be are going to let this go. Welcome back!
